How do you cook a sweet potato?
 
For Layla that is... so no butter or whatever else one might put on it :p

Hi, Marci! When I make them for us, I just put them in the toaster oven wrapped in foil for approximately one hour (depending on size). I like to cook them slow.

Then I just peel it and mash it up for Sam... then eat mine:)

I cut it in half and put it in a bowl w/ a little water and lid, then put in the microwave for like 7-10 mins. Take out, peel it and mash it.

ok another question- no matter what way i cook it- do i always peel it after it is done cooking?

I peel Sam's but I do not peel mine. I eat like a baked potato without all the good stuff:p

you boil it whole or do yuo chop it up? how do i know when it is done?

I cut it up in 6 or 8 pieces.
You will be able to stick a fork through it but with boiling I'm sure most of the nutrients are cooked out...

You could probably bake it also.

it will take longer but i think i'll bake it.

Stab it with a fork and nuke it for 7-10 minutes, or, boil it. I might also roast it in the oven if I have something else in there.

I use my toaster oven for everything. It doesnt heat up the house and just handy dandy to use. I love it!

You can boil them or bake them. For the dog I would probably cut into chunks and boil.

I do too. I use mine more than the microwave
