| Debit/Credit Cards - Have You Ever... Have you ever noticed where a place charged you twice for the same thing? For example, while my boyfriend was working in Georgia he ate at this Mexican restaurant twice. The first time he paid 9.00 even with the debit card then the second time he paid 9.00 + 1.00 tip = 10.00 purchase. It took forever to go through, I'm talking it just went through today and the 9.00 purchase was on 8/1 and the 10.00 purchase was on 8/8. He only ate there those two times yet there's a third debit transaction for 10.00 from the Mexican restaurant that also went through today. Has this ever happened to anyone? What did you do? What should I do? Thanks ladies!

| I'm not sure what you can do since it was paid by debit, but I know that with credit cards, you can call the credit card company and have them do a chargeback. Maybe contact your bank and see if they can do something similar? But first I would go back to the restaurant and speak to the manager. Show them your statement and explained what happened. Either they will refund you right away, or they'll have someone look into it. If they choose not to do anything about it, then definately see if you can do some type of chargeback. Good luck

| This has been in the news recently: Washington Mututal I found this one easily, but there's been another recently with a particular restaurant (not in your area). Call the bank that issued the debit card and dispute the charge. Could be some kind of glitch. |

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Yes, this happened to me at a gas station once. It was with my debit card. I was told this happens "sometimes". I called the gas station and told them to go back and search the day in question (since both my transations were right after one another), and I ended up getting a credit back from the gas station. They told me to always use the card as a "debit" and not as a "credit" to avoid this -- another words, always put your pin # in for the transation to go through. I would contact this restauarant and tell them about the mistake. Good luck!!

♥My Lil' Monkey Girl♥ Donating Member | Hi i work for a bank and before i can give you any information on what to do, i need to know is it pending in your account or has it come through completely. like if you were looking at your card holds is it listed their or actually showing on the statement?? If it is in your hold it should fall off tonight during your processing. As some companies will try and authorize a higher amount on your card (Like showing a tip say your bill was 43.00 and you see a 55.00 charge. once the item is charged to the account the difference falls off) If the item shows in your statement call your customer service line and let them know you show an extra charge through your account. Also if you are close enough to go in go to your branch and talk to them explaining the charge sometimes they can take care of it at their end. They may have you fill out a dispute. But you will be fine in the end. If you have any questions feel free to contact me as i should be able to help you in this area. Good luck!

8-15-08 Mexico Tipico 10.00 Then in this area there are a few other transactions 8-15-08 Mexico Tipico 10.00 Then after it there are other transactions that I've made I'm double checking with my boyfriend to make SURE that he didn't eat there more than twice but I'm 99.9% positive he just ate there the 2 times. As soon as I find out then I'm going to call our bank and see what they say. Thanks!

| I'm not sure how that happens, but you can call the bank and dispute the charge.

| I would just call the bank. I had it happen a couple of times and the charges were reversed. This last time, I just filled out a discrepancy form. The bank contacted the vendor the vendor didn't respond. The bank should contact the company on your behalf to dispute the charge just as a credit card company would.
