Wow..prices are dropping just about everywhere! yeah!!

It was $1.85 here this morning, I have to say I never thought it would get below $2.00 again. I hope prices keeps dropping...:)

$1.60 9/10 (1.61) at the BP near work in Melbourne and 7-11 near home.

Lowest I saw yesterday was 1.73.
I usually get the middle gas so it was 15.98 to fill my tank from almost empty. YIPPEEE!!!

Paid $1.40 today!

I'm DEFINITELY not complaining about the lower prices (love it) - but this gas they are selling now w/ ethanol...well, now, none of our cars get very good gas mileage...anyone else notice this?
I asked some family and they all said the same thing...and my family are antics about keeping a log in their cars (each fill up, mileage, oil changed, etc).

from my understanding, that enviromentally safe fuel is really expensive to produce. All the shuttles at my school are powerd by biofuels and my understanding is they are expensive! So adding ethanol to our gas would make gas prices higher rather than drive the price down. Unless my ochem teacher is wrong!

Ethanol is a very inefficient fuel, highly corrosive and has a short shelf life. It has much less energy per gallon than regular unleaded and costs much more to produce. I am one of those who keeps records and it has cut our mileage by as much as 22%.:eek:

My father said the same thing about it being corrosive - he is in the auto business and has seen it first hand (apparently) on some test models or something:scratchhe
BUT it is getting to where you can't find a station that doesn't have it added to their gas!

$2.39. There's hope. I got tired of waiting, though, and swapped my gas-guzzling 4-wheel drive truck for this yesterday. Ain't it cute?

That's good to hear. My first car was an old-fashioned bug back in the day. I drove it into the ground and loved it. I've been wanting one of these since they came out. What kind of mileage does your daughter get?

She gets about 28 on the highway and 22 to 23 in the city!

Thanks. That's perfect! I'd be delighted with 20 around town. My truck got 10 mpg in 2-wheel-drive, and I was afraid to check the 4-wheel drive mileage.

We were on a waiting list for one of these VW's when they first came back, but they kept calling us saying it would be longer and longer. When they called and said it would be two YEARS till we could get the one we wanted we said forget it.

This gas price stuff is funny business - this week on the nat'l news I hear gas prices are on the raise again - above $2. At that point the cheapest stuff here was $1.79 - that very day, which was about 4 days ago, gas started to drop.

Now today it is $1.55 here again - it's so strange how it goes up and down so fast.

Not that I'm complaining! Anything under $2 is great - especially after what we were paying during the summer!

Is everyone else seeing a rollercoaster in prices? Or is it really going up again like I heard on the news?

Yorkiesmiles, you are hearing right. It has gone up over the past few weeks. Gas where I live was at $1.30 now it is back up to $1.79 for regular. But like you, I am not complaining either. Atleast it is not $4.00 now like it was this time last year.

I paid $2.25 a gallon yesterday. Whats up with that, oil is at about $37.00 dollars a barrel. When it was $4.00 it was $120.00 a barrel. Something seems a little of in the math.:confused:

That is not sounding very good. They're overcharging us for gas! Like we don't have enough to deal with in this economy.

$1.69.

*Definitely* not complaining, but I watch the gas prices obsessively (LOL I have no life) and it jumped from 1.29 to 1.49 litterally over night. Crept up to 1.55, and then jumped to 1.73. Then for the last 2 weeks or so it's been pretty steady at 1.69.

haha I must sound crazy right now.
