Iseen so many girls in the Chinese team not stick it,lose their balance and still not get as many deductions?! Then the chinese girl goes and screws up and has at least 5 deductions that are pointed out and bam! gets a 16.1 ???
I wanted to scream! And... I'm sorry some of those girls look at least 13 yrs old!? They had some competition last year and one of their coaches gave a brief interview saying how proud he was of so and so and saying how good she was for only being 13... and she's here the following year in this year's Olympics? They said all they need to prove age is the passport so everything checked out and they wont investigate any further....

Oooh well ...just had to vent lol

Glad to know I'm not alone in how hard this was to watch. With Shawn being my hometown girl it has been so hard - because for 6 mths at least the newspapers, tv stations, and commercials have called her Iowa's Golden Girl - what if she doesn't get any gold - praying this isn't true - because she did place 1st in 2 events last night.

But the scoring is so off - - even when Shawn started her beam routine last night the commentators were saying it seemed the judges didn't like Shawn's style, her body type - they don't like the power tumbler; they seem to only appreciate the long, dancer style tumbler. I don't understand why there isn't room for both - I can appreciate both styles. It was crazy to see Shawn & Nastia's routines get devalued and points knocked off, when this didn't happen for the Chinese.

The age - oh, don't get me started. The Gold medal in the team event should be stripped from China and given to the US. If you want to see something right on and funny about this, watch what one of our local sports commentators had to say about this last night WHO TV - Des Moines: Search

Yes he did. I was thinking he didn't touch first at first. I keep telling my hubby that! Then they showed it in slow mo and it was amazing how he snuck right in there and touched first. They were saying that it is an "electronic touch pad" and He DID touch first.

Yes, I'm so glad they showed it in slow motion. What can you say about that guy except he must be super human. What an exciting race, I was screaming here.

yea he did, it didnt look like it cause Cavics arms were already aiming to touch but then Phelps quickly pushed his long arms so fast and touched it right before cavics.

Wasn't that fantastic? I was standing in front of the tv jumping up and down like a teen. And that Dara Torres is amazing also but she has a lot of trainers, therapists etc. I saw that earlier today.

I saw that this morning too - she employees 8 people to keep her in shape - wow amazing. Wondering if she has a housekeeper and cook too - because I don't know how she could have time with her daughter and train too. Probably a nanny also - how does she pay for all of this??

Hopefully she is getting some big endorsements. The one thing is, I think she looks her age - or even older than 41 in her face. I bet all that chlorine and pool chemicals are tough on her skin

But in the pool she is amazing!!!! I pray she earns a Gold

I thought of that to but she or hubby must be bringing in some big bucks or a rich daddy. Did you hear her say that she swam after giving birth on the same day? I'm a swimmer and it couldn't have been many strokes. Sounds like she's obsessed with winning but like you, I'm pulling for her.

I thought Torres looked great! She has beauty & talent! I can't say enought about Phelps. WOW!! Tonight was so exciting, the babies were wondering what all the rukus was about!! We're also babysitting my step daughter's yorkie. They were getting excited too from all the cheering!!
