| ![]() I don't want him to work there again. It was in car sales and he worked 12 hour days 6 days a week and 8 hours 1 day a week just to try and be there for the sales and still didn't make hardly any money. Plus they cheated him out of a bonus he earned. They wouldn't give it to him because they laid him off. They are a shady business.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Well it's 2009...Are any of you back to work after a layoff?? I am hopeful...I have an interview on Monday...it's for an Admin Assist position in a Physio Clinic ...it's only part time...but I will take it! I have been working corporate for the past 2 years..but used to work in a Chiropratic clinic as an Office Manager a couple of years ago...so I am very hope!!! I really need this..I have been off since August 08 and today my husband finds out if he will be laid off AGAIN! 13 people are tagged for another layoff today at his shop... I watched the Oboma speach and it sounds like he has a good plan to get the country back on it's feet. I live in Canada..but firmly believe that was affects the USA affects Canada as well...especially concerning the Auto industry. Best wishes to all!

| ![]() Good luck to you! It is very difficult to be without work and to have your husband's job in jeopardy too. My hubby got laid off many years ago and I remember how stressful it was. He was rehired in a couple of months so it all worked out - but it was awful when going through it. Good luck to you with your interview!

| ![]() I'll definately be saying a prayer for you. I'm in the same boat, except that I'm the one laid off. I had an interview the other day that seems promising, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get this position and that they offer me at least what I was making in my previous position.

Christmas, no make that 6 another couple I know moved to a bigger place and were told the day before moving day they both lost their job. The temp agencies are pretty good for replacing people who are on disability or maternity leave. but be benefits are not full. One couple that was to take a puppy said they could not. I felt bad that they could not have the puppy but said Ok, as I am on disability myself. The pups get chicken, beef and the best puppy food, I just had crackers cream cheese for dinner..lol I think everyone does that during hard times, feed kids and pets first. Chicken legs are always cheep and there is so many ways to cook chicken, same goes for ground beef. I find canned or frozen veggies on sale much cheaper than fresh and buy sale item in bulk, like pasta, cereal, toilet paper and such. I turn off lights if the dogs or I are not in the room. I don't use the TV for back ground noise. The foods I make from scratch is what company and my kids like best. pot stickers for example. I wash in clothes in cold water. Little adjustments help to get past rough patches. Right now I am making a homemade Thank You Card. I actually avoid Dollar stores unless I have a list because I by crap I don't need...lol. I hope all goes well for you. Oh also as a gift (birthday) I asked for gas cards and grocery gift cards.

| ![]() I wasnt laid off. I had a job for 11 years. I got married and my hubby accepted a position over seas in Korea for 2 years. When I left they were excited for my return and I felt confident that I would have a job. After 8 months I returned home and they couldnt hire, in fact they were outsourcing and downsizing by attrition (sp?). ANYWAY. I looked for a job for 19 months. I decided to take something close to home for whatever I could make. I went from $80K a year as an accounting supervisor to $15 an hour as a data entry clerk. Instead of an hour or more one way commute to DC, I had an 18 minute commute. I didnt have to pay for parking and my insurance went down. I have been there now for 22 months. I hated it. BUT we are in the middle of a merger, I have been offered a promotion and I am excited its not in accounting but retail marketing for a motor fuels company. In this time of crisis, somehow I picked a job that will flourish in good times and bad. I work for an oil company that has partnered with Motiva shell and Dash In food stores in Maryland Delaware and Virginia. We do home heating oil, commerical gas deliveries to Shell area stores and food sales with Dash IN. I will be working with Advertisement primarily as a support person but they are also paying for my school. I am blessed. But I do know how hopeless it feels to lose what you are comfortable with. I am praying for those that have pending interviews and feel for those who don't know where to look next. I encourage everyone to look for something with Motor fuels. That includes dispatch, delivery, admin positions. It is a BOOMING business. Everyone needs heating oil, propane, gasoline, Kerosene, Diesel fuel and chips and candy! Keep your head up and your eyes open and rethink your goals. You wont always get the money you want but get that foot in the door and show them what you've got! |

| ![]() My husband was laid off at the end of December, thankfully he was working part time too so he still has the part time job, doesn't pay much but at least it's something. I graduated from a technical school for medical assisting and spent a year looking for a job, after that I pretty much gave up and decided I would go back to school full time. Now we are both having to look for just about anything at this point.. I really feel for everyone who has house payments to make on top of regular daily expenses and still can't find work. I go nuts daily worrying about things and I know there's people out there who probably owe a lot more money that what we are in debt with.

| ![]() My husband has been laid off for a few months now. I was forced down to part time from full. there just are any jobs out there.Everyone who has one should be so thankful and not take it for granted. Hubby is willing to take any job at this point,he can do anything, but doesnt matter.they wont hire him at his age -over 40- sounds crazy but true. and my bills just keep piling up. ![]() Buy American!!!

| ![]() I had a major scare today. My boss called me to go with her to her boss's office. Luckily on the way she told me that my job was changing but there were layoffs going on today and noone in my dept was hit. OMG.... my stomache was turning. I own my own house alone. If I lost my job, my house would quickly follow. I don't care what I do at this point for work, as long as I still have a job. I didn't get demoted or a decrease in pay... just a shift in the work I do. I was told it was done to KEEP my job safe. What a scare!!!! ![]() ![]()
