I am so addicted to little Emma that I check in several times a day just to see her. She has grown so big. It was amazing to look at the video and watch her go from stumbling movements to running around. |

What an incredible, moving, eye-opening video:thumbup. Emma is so beautiful and looks perfect in Natalie's little dress. You are a remarkable angel, Dena, and Emma is an even more remarkable little baby. Who would have thought that little face could create such a stir in peoples emotions. Way to go Li'l Punkin' Butt:). |
I just got caught up on Emma's story and I have to say I'm thrilled to see such a happy, perky, healthy looking little girl! She has grown so much! Blessings being sent to Emma! I hope her vet visit went well today. Love and Prayers, Tammy, Abby and Daisy |
Still saying my prayers for Emma. |
Well, we're back..... the visit was alright.... Emma SCREAMED for FIVE MINUTES after her lil' shot... poor baby.... Funny that the ONE shot, hurt her more than ANY of the other stuff she went through!! (or she's just growing up and learning if she screams, she gets attention! haha) She's reallyyyyyy sleepy... I suppose from the vaccination. Her lil' eye started bothering her again this morning, so I asked the vet to stain it again and check.... she wiggled too much to get an excellent look... but doesn't look to be any ulcers.... So... back on the eye ointment, and a little drop of something else once a day for eye pain. I think she's scratching her eye with the lil' dew claw.... she always crosses her lil' paw paws and runs her face up and down her paws... think she's catching the eye on the dew claw. We talked about having the dew claws removed when she's under for her surgery. Doc measured her for a larger tube... so she's at an 8 french now... and we have a/d to start her on... mixed very thin with her formula.... will start that tomorrow and see how she does. We'll go back on the 16th for the second vaccination unless there are troubles or concerns in the mean time. All is well.... she is weighing in at 13 ounces. :) |

Yea...13 ounces of pure love! |
Aweeee, poor lil Punkin Butt, I feel so bad for her that she screamed and cried for all that time. I wonder if she's sore today from it? Glad to hear she's gaining weight though. Hope her eye heals up soon. Have you ever asked the vet about dry eye? I know chi's can get that. So do you have to space the feedings out now that she'll be getting A/D in her formula or does all remain the same? Kisses to Punkin Butt for me, please tell her I love her. |

Likely we'll get to move up to every 3 hours or so though... since she'll be getting more calories and balancing things out..... :) |
Oh Dena, I have been off of YT for over a week and missed you and little Emma so much! I haven't caught her awake yet but am looking ever so often. She is so cute! I can't get YouTube here at work or at home so I can only imagine what it is like. I'm thrilled that our little girl got some PR! And that grandbaby of yours is the cutest little thing! Emma didn't even look jealous! LOL I posted good and bad news on the off topic forum so you can see what is going on in my life. Take care. |

Just wondering how Emmas doing this evening? I've been going in and out of her chat all day but it's set so no one can chat in there. Did something happen that I missed? |
Ooooo! Just heard of another foundation!!! CHECK this out, Dena!!! "Our Mission Statement: The Mosby Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education. It's really very simple. A rescue group, foster person, shelter or vet has a dog that requires medical care and there aren't sufficient funds for that treatment. The Mosby Foundation is contacted by a licensed veterinarian with case details. Our Board decides whether we can help, and if so, how." |

Just a lil' update.... Hi everyone! :) First off, thanks for the information about The Mosby Foundation... did you guys read his story?? I bawled for an hour..... I did contact "Mr. Grouch" <<grin>> but not to ask for financial assistance.... I feel like with everyone's help, we are doing pretty well with raising funds for Emma's care and treatment..... so I don't want to take away from another family with a little furbutt who may not be as lucky as we have been with support for Emma. But I did ask that they might befriend Emma and share her story via a link on their website for a little more exposure to Emma's plight, inadvertantly assisting us with her financial needs in that manner. I'll let you know if I hear anything back.... There has been a press release go out re: Emma's story.... I can't post it here since it does mention the "D-word" with links, but it seems to have raised even more awareness of Emma's plight! I even had a contact regarding someone doing a children's book about baby Emma!! (a fun thought, but don't put much into that - it wasn't a "validated inquiry", just a brief mention...) Emma is doing very well with having started on "real" food..... the 8 french tube is WAY too big for her and I'm not able to pass it.... the food mixure is too much for the tiny 5 fr tube we're currently using.... so I've cut the 8 fr tube down so that I can insert it into the mouth, wayyyy to the back - bypassing the cleft and drizzling the a/d mixture in drop by drop down her throat. It's working alright... she's a little wiggle worm, so it makes placement of the tube in a manner that will not induce the gag reflex, leading to choking - a bit tough.... but, she's getting it - and the extra caloric / nutritional intake should be providing a marked improvement in her overall condition. I'm still seeing some issues with that lil' eye.... but today it seems a tiny bit less irritated. I'm continuing with the ophthalmic ointment... Doc Ellen bumped the dosage up to 4 to 5 times daily.... as well, we've added a once daily dose of atropine for pain. Since I am always with Emma, I don't always notice the many changes that occur in our girl on an almost daily basis..... so every time I create a new video of her - and go back over her images and less recent videos.... I am SO AMAZED!! She has come SO FAR from that delicate little pup I brought home.... helpless and struggling..... growing into a spirited, independent young girl!! I've said it a hundred times... and will continue to believe..... that our Lord has been with Emma from the moment she was born - - - - I am grateful to all of you who acknowledge my efforts here - and I too, give thanks for all of YOUR efforts!!! Again and again I say - it's Emma and God who are doing the work!! I feel blessed and honored to know them BOTH!!! :) God lives in us... works and heals through us............ Someone posted this on Emma's thread in another forum.... it certainly tells of truth!!! Have a beautiful day everyone!!! :ghug: Thank you for helping to MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! :) The Starfish Story Original Story by: Loren Eisley One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…” I made a difference for that one.” |

Wow. An incredibly inspiring cleft story I just found in the Breeder's Section: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...e-surgery.html There are some really great outcomes for these babies. This person went throught it all and shared a great story. The operation only cost $2700 too, it's not even that prohibitive - in the scheme of things. So, reading this gave me more insight into what Emma faces. Great story! :) |
