Life is a journey we all make. It is a process. During the course of this journey, we make many choices that have a tremendous impact, not only upon ourselves , but upon others.....including living beings that aren't human.

I give you one story, twice, each version having a different ending and, thusly, a different effect. Personally, I would choose the first course of action. Everyone must decide what impact they desire to project upon 'others' on their journey through life.

Based on the story by Loren Eisley...

I awoke early, as I often did, just before sunrise to walk by the ocean's edge and greet the new day. As I moved through the misty dawn, I focused on a faint, far away motion. I saw a youth, bending and reaching and flailing arms, dancing on the beach, no doubt in celebration of the perfect day soon to begin.

As I approached, I sadly realized that the youth was not dancing to the bay, but rather bending to sift through the debris left by the night's tide, stopping now and then to pick up a starfish and then standing, to heave it back into the sea. I asked the youth the purpose of the effort. "The tide has washed the starfish onto the beach and they cannot return to the sea by themselves," the youth replied. "When the sun rises, they will die, unless I throw them back to the sea."

As the youth explained, I surveyed the vast expanse of beach, stretching in both directions beyond my sight. Starfish littered the shore in numbers beyond calculation. The hopelessness of the youth's plan became clear to me and I countered, "But there are more starfish on this beach than you can ever save before the sun is up. Surely you cannot expect to make a difference."

The youth paused briefly to consider my words, bent to pick up a starfish and threw it as far as possible. Turning to me he simply said, "I made a difference to that one."
I left the boy and went home, deep in thought of what the boy had said. I returned to the beach and spent the rest of the day helping the boy throw starfish in to the sea.

We both went on to continue our day, leaving the starfish to die in the sun, except the few the boy had thrown to the sea before I came upon him in his futile efforts.

I'm all for the positive journey...saving one living thing at a time. Every ones actions do make a difference...be it good or bad...it's still a difference. Ah, Dena, I am so sorry that little Emma's eyes are still showing problems. She is so precious and been through so much already ... poor sweet baby, I am praying for her every day that she will continue to grow into a healthy little girl. God bless for your love and patience with this little angel.

I was thinking it was dry eye cause of the symptoms she was having. Hope things are going better with them soon.

OMG !!! She is the sweetest little thing!

I swear, she just gets more and more beautiful everyday! If my little Roscoe could see her I'm sure he would be so in LOVE! :) (He likes the chi ladies!)

Probably giving her some black out time would be best. We'll miss you Emma! And I wanted to wish Alley good luck at the vets, what a wonderful helpful family you guys are!
