Out of curiosity, does Emma eat anything yet? Is she trying food? I was looking back on my blog to see what age I started Zacchie on food, and what age he was finally on dry food. Looks like I transitioned him from formula to food over about six to eight weeks of age. Does she drink water yet? And how does her cleft look now? Has it closed any, or has it widened? You have done a wonderful job, whatever you have done, I was just wondering. |

Her surgeon says we can start talking about a very thin pureed wet puppy food via a larger tube soon.... she has her 1st vaccination on Sunday so I think she's planning on starting her on the larger tube w/ "food" shortly thereafter. The first surgery did in fact, keep the soft palate in tact.... so that is doing very well..... the hard palate "looks" larger, but is really just widening with the normal growth of her mouth. Here are pictures of the cleft today.... |

I have tears running down my face from watching Emma's newscast. Baby girl you're doing fine...gaining weight and strength. Looking more beautiful every day. I too have noticed how much lighter her coat seems. I am still in awe over this entire story...I am awe struck!!! |
Good luck with the 1st vaccination tomorrow. You're a big girl now lil Punkin Butt . . . you can do it. ;) I'm sure mommy will be right there to hold your little paw. Just think of all the yummy food you will be getting soon. :) And then getting to go outside and play on the ground. Oh what fun for you lies ahead baby girl. And good luck to you Dena with the larger feeding tube. |

Great job, Dena!! I sit and watch this little miracle for hours sometime! I love watching her getting ready to sleep at night! I have not posted but when you see "Nonnie" watching her, that's us! [My grandchildren call me that. :p] If I don't get a chance to do anything else, I always check on her to make sure she's OK! ;) |

She is just absolutely precious! Is is anticipated that she will eventually be able to eat without the tube? Is sure hope so! Does the tube seem to bother her? |

I don't think the tube has ever bothered HER.... she used to, and still does sometimes - - fight the "being held in a particular position" part of it..... (and she's always wanted to CHEW rather than swallow... something I may have to worry more about now that she has those back teeth!!) The task has terrified me since the beginning..... but it's what she knows.... she sees it and knows she's about to get a full belly!! She gets as excited as if you were to shake a bag of Yorkie Yummies in front of your furbutts!! haha.... We've kept using the smaller tube to avoid any damage to her throat... and have had no problems at all with any type of introduction of "bad germs" or infection thus far. I tend to keep her and anything that touches her, in pretty sterile conditions... so we've been real lucky! Once the cleft is repaired and the incisions are fully healed... Emma should be able to start off with moist solid food pretty much immediately, moving to a hard kibble shortly thereafter. The only concern may be with her teeth in the front, but that's a "simple something" to deal with in the future.... Dena thanks for making that video, I love that you made it so that we can watch her "instantly" grow up into the living doll she is today. She has changed so much!!!! I had no idea the kind of criticism that you were receiving, I only knew of the few negative nancy's on this site that well...were being negative :( Good thing you have a lot of Emma's online aunties to help keep an eye on her via webcam!!! :D I love to just watch her run around her pretty in pink room! That little pink angelic dress, was that a gift from a YTer or did you pick that up for her. I thought that was absolutely perfect for this little angel!!! |

Like the entire YT community, I love little Emma! Thank you so much for sharing her life with all of us! I didn't realize the ugly comments that had been made. I feel bad for people who truly feel like that. Very negative, and feeling the need to judge others. I've been keeping up with Lil Punkin' Butt since the beginning and it just makes my heart swell to know that she's come so far in such a short amount of time (even though it feels like we've known her AGES!).
