Awwwww......look at those little eyes!!!! Do you suppose she might be getting her teeth early because of the cleft palate? I wonder if her teeth may have been closer to the surface....hope this makes sense...because of the cleft.

Glad to see all the progress...congrats Dena!!!!

Email just received from the DVM at the new hospital where Emma may be receiving care...... I emailed her the photos of Emma's teeth this morning. (On a SUNDAY.... with a almost IMMEDIATE REPLY... ON A SUNDAY!!! lol, I love these people already!!) ;)

Oh I think I like them as well, they replied back right away, that's ALWAYS good! Hopefully the surgeon can speak with the dentist and hopefully this is something normal with pups that have cleft pallets or cleft lips.

Teeth................. OMG, Emma has TEETH!!! :eek: And not in a very good place either, considering.... one lil' razor sharp toofie on either side of the cleft...

Good gosh, she's 13 days old!! She shouldn't have TEETH!!

Hmmm, Teeth already! I don't think Zacchie got his teeth that soon, but I wouldn't worry about it.

It might be possible, due to the severity of the cleft. Zaccheus' cleft is just his palate, not his lip. So I don't know what difference that would make.

Teeth:

The reason she has teeth all over everywhere is because the cleft probably split many of the tooth-buds in half, creating an extra tooth for every one that is affected. This would mean that they could have been displaced to other areas of the palate as well as the gums.

I was told that no teeth would grow in the cleft area but that was wrong. We had a few teeth in very wrong places that simply had to be removed.

im glad to hear all of this good news.. new possible surgeons, open eyes...etc. i cant believe she has teeth!! that is weird. I hope the good news keeps coming :)

GOOD FOR you with this little one - I read bits and parts on this thread in beteen my job and working....and want to say how proud of yourself you should be !!! It's just amazing how some TLC and the right care can save an almost lost life...I'm so touched :luvu:

and her pictures ! OMG They're spectuclar ! You did GOOD MOM ! REALLY GOOD ! what a great story this is......Congratulations to baby Emma !!!

I'm not surprised she has the "tooth slivers" in wierd places... just that she has them so early..... 13 days is pretty early for any pup - but as long as it's not bothering her, I guess I won't dwell on it.... :)

Teeth already???? That's interesting. Please keep us updated on those wonderful new vets and what they say about the teeth. I really hope they are able to help. Glad that so far they're at least quick to respond, here's hoping that's a good sign....

I am glad that she is a part of your whole family! I assume you have children?

I can't think of a better way for a child to witness how miraculous life is and fragile, too. Include the importance of how doing everything we can to preserve and protect, and you have a most wonderful lesson.

I'm so excited!! The surgeon has agreed to meet Emma just as soon as she returns from Houston!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! :happyboun:happyboun:2hearts2::cheer::cheer: :yay_jump: :yay_jump: :woof::woof::nursing:

Here is an email I received from the Doc.......... which includes the first response FROM the surgeon - TO the Doc (and then fowarded to me)

<<<<<<<<<(this is the Surgeon) wow. I did get tears in my eyes. That music! I would love to see her. I'm going to send this to another doctor as well, he's an awesome surgeon/dentist (double boarded!) in Virginia, and he's great. I'll see if he has any initial suggestions, etc, too

I'm so EXCITEDDDD Dena!! I can't wait for the surgeon to get back and you and Emma go in to see him. Sounds like he knows his stuff just by reading the above Email! Keep up the awesome job you're doing Dena, and Punkin Butt, you just keep on hangin in there and growing bigger and stronger everyday, the help you need will come.

I am so very happy at this wonderful turn. It has been a long hard battle but things are definitely on the upswing and Emma's future is looking so bright.

I can't tell you how very much this has all affected me. Right now, my heart feels about to burst with happiness and elation.
