Did anyone ever use those "send in your gold" companies?

Thanks for that info! My sister actually works for a high end jewelry store (it sells David Yurman (sp?) and such). She said she'd take it to work with her to weigh it for me, but that her store doesn't really pay that much. That way, when I "shop around" I'll know what it weighs.
