But the little that did happen was much better than smoking. Now I just need to loose all the weight I gained after.

| I was sick pretty much at least the first month. I have noticed that most men don't seem to have the symptoms as bad as the women. I look at it this way, I started to smoke to be cool and can remember getting sick from the cigarettes...so this time it was just the reminder as to why I shouldn't have started. I was not in the quitting mindframe...as long as you take the pills as directed..they will work...they work with the endorphins in your brain...I say go for it!

| Thanks everyone, the support here is great. I know how nice it felt to have won out over the demon nicotine before and i know I can do it again. I didn't start the patch today, I finished off what was left of my pack of cigs though and i'm not getting anymore. tomorrow morning first thing i'm slapping that patch on and not looking back.

| So................................how's it going? I found it really hard to quit and not have a pack in the house...just in case...so I bought a pack...never opened it...but it was there with me til the end...I swear it was like losing my best friend. Wishing you tons of luck, my friend...good luck kicking the habit in the butt.

| My Dad smoked for 54 years, never once quitting even while sick, his doctor prescribed Chantix to him, he has been smoke free for almost 2 years. This stuff must be amazing as my Dad was a Serious Smoker. |

The best advice I can offer is to NEVER quit quitting. It took me many tries...but a week after my father passed (from natural causes)...I just knew it was time. I had smoked for over 20 years, and as much as I loved it...I also hated it!! Well...it has been 6 years this past Febuary since I quit cold turkey. I made a deal with my maker that if he/she helped me to quit smoking...that I would die a non smoker. And I plan to keep that promise!!

| I have been trying to quit too. So far I have had one cigarette since June 9th. But I am not gonna lie, its been REALLY hard to quit!!! I find myself "jones'n" for one sometimes in the worst way. Since I have quit I had a tragic and sudden close family death and then 2 weeks later I hear my dad's cancer may be back (he had stage 3B hodgekins lymphoma, he went into remission this past december). UGH! Anyways, I am really glad you posted this topic, because I was feeling alone in this! But, I do have a tip I can share that has helped me. I have a jar full of peanut M&Ms....anytime I have that crave I grab a handful, then the urge seems to pass.... |
