| Prayers for my Dad please My Dad has been having some trouble....After he eats he seem to get sick and can't keep his food down, etc. He went to the doctor for this and has had several different test done and they havent found anything. Well the last doctor visit they did blood work as they always do and he got a call saying his hemoglobin was down to 12.( which is really low in a man) if it drops down more he may need a blood transfusion. They started him on iron and rechecked it in a few weeks...still never came back up. He's been sooo tired and has been having difficultly breething as well. They referred him to the Cancer Center for help. They have ruled out colon cancer cause the did the scope thing. They now have found he is losing blood in his urine. No signs of it, only under a microscope. They called him at 2:00 on Thurs and wanted him to come in for a sonagram of his bladder/ kidneys at 4:00 that day (which I've never heard of them doing that so fast - so that scares me). We are waiting to hear the results from that. He has to go in tomorrow and have iron iv's for a while to try to get some iron back into his body. They have suggested he does this 2-3 times a week until they find out what is wrong. He has to go i think on wed of this week to have a scope up thru his penis (not sure what they are checking for) but they are thinking its cancer somewhere since his iron levels are so zapped and with the blood being in his urine. Please pray for him and that if its God will it not be Cancer. He is a Good Christian man and is faith believing, but sometimes its hard to have faith when he is feeling so bad. and please pray for God to uplift him and keep this spirits up. |

| Aww I am so sorry to hear your dad has been ill. I know it must be very scary for you. It sound like he is in really good hands though. A cystoscope allows the doctors to see the inside lining of the bladder and take a lil snip of tissue if they see any tumors or erosions. I will try to help answer questions anytime I can. Even though I am an ortho trauma nurse, I still have some GU experience. My mom had bladder cancer and had to have her bladder removed. She lead a very normal life following the removal of her bladder for 8 yrs until she had other issues. Although 12 hgb is not optimal..it is not bad in the scheme of things. Sending out prayers for you, your dad and all of the medical staff taking care of your dad. I m here anytime Lisa |

| Denise, I hope they can get it figured out and help your dad back to good health. His symptoms sound the same as my mothers...pretty much. My mothers hemoglobin drops down to 7 (that's when they will add blood for a woman) about every 2.5 - 3 months. She has been hospitalized a number of times and they have run every test under the sun on her and still don't know if she is losing blood or just not makeing any new blood. Her kidneys are failing they are at 17% now and when or if they go to 15% she will need dialysis. Drs. just don't know for sure what is going on. This has been going on for over a year now. Be careful of the iron..he'll most likely need a stool softener like mom does. She's about ready to say the heck with it all. I hope they are aggressive in finding out what is going on with your Dad and I'll keep him in my prayers.

| Hi Denise, Keeping your dad in my prayers. I had a kidney stone a while back and they detected blood in my urine too, ofcourse it was microscopic level so I didn't see any. I had intense pain in my tummy but if he doesn't have that then it wouldn't be a kidney stone. Good luck to you and your family and I hope things get resolved soon. Prayers coming your way
