I've heard Miami is dog friendly. Plus good restaurants and beautiful beaches. |
hmmm...I have to admit...I skipped a few or so pages but my thought is, since it was at one of the lower 48 states this year...lets bring it closer to yankeeville, plenty of beautiful beaches and I know Pennsylvania has some beautiful state parks...as well as the surrounding states...sorry if this is a repeat...ADHD ..not enough patience to go through all the pages. |
found a place that seems to be the most pet friendly i have ever seen....it is even called Barkingham it is actually a dog beach.........it is close to Fort Myerts Florida.............. |

been checking things like flights and airlines....it will cost me over 550 dollars just to get me and Smokey to San Diego if that is chosen as the Meetup site....just something for those of you east of the Mississippi River to think about when you are voting.....im still looking at different cities too...im one of those people who makes plans way way in advance for things.... |
Gosh, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what is picked. San Diego is beautiful...even though we couldn't make it :(( teapots don't fly:rolleyes:), of course, then I could celebrate because YT meetup 2010 would be East Coast! :D You all have a lot of great ideas. Just to throw a few more East Coast ideas out: I thought at one point I had mentioned Alexandria, Va. Its dog-friendly, near D.C. has lots of great parks nearby and Mt. Vernon allows dogs too. (can't find my previous post). Also, we love Savannah Ga. We've found it very easy to find pet-friendly accomodations and things to do there. Tennesee seems to be pretty centrally located... |
I haven't read through all the pages of this thread yet, but I like some of the options already mentioned: Chicago TN (several cities mentioned) San Diego Indianapolis Texas-I have wanted to go to Austin for awhile I can say right now that wouldn't go if it was in NYC-it's expensive for hotels, meals and everything else, and I probably wouldn't go if it was in Vegas during the summertime-it's just too hot for the dogs who aren't used to 100+ temps. Spring or autumn in Texas sounds like a great plan, and I love the idea of TN or San Diego any time of year! FL sounds good too, and Chicago's close for me, and there's lots to do. |

I'm from Jacksonville but I've lived away for so long I don't know how dog friendly it is. I would guess Ponte Vedre (just south of Jax) is dog friendly but the airport is really far from any of the good parts of town. I have family in Tallahassee that I could ask but it is crazy hot and stagnant there in the summer. |
This is just my opinion. So many places have been mentioned and there will never be an agreement on where it should be. I think that the people who have offered to plan the meetup should "get together" and plan where it is going to be. After all they are the ones doing all of the work. I think voting on it is going to get us no where. If I remember correctly, we didn't vote last year. The planning committee decided and let us know where it was going to be. It just starts to get to controversial with this many people giving their opinions. There is NO WAY to please everybody. |
