| What great news that Curtis is going to recover. I'm sure it will be a long process, but at least he's alive without losing his arm or anything else. Thank God! And you living thru subarachnoid hemorrhage and subdural hematoma~ yikes! That's MAJOR! I've worked with so many head injury patients and it's so scary. I was in a big car wreck once too (my car flipped end over end and side over side 3 times, ended up in a big ditch along the side of the road in a huge rainstorm....thank goodness a man who was a couple of cars behind me stopped with his son and pulled me out of the car (it ended up with the driver's side down and I couldn't get out myself b/c the other door kept slamming shut when I tried to throw it open)~ I HATE driving anymore and especially in the rain! I drive only as much as I need to and mostly not more than just around town. It makes a big impression on you when you total a car and you're in shock for a couple of days. My prayers continue for Curtis and as pain free a recovery as possible. He's SO LUCKY you and your dh were out there!

| YT 2000 Club Member | I just wanted to let you all know that my husband and I spoke with Curtis's Step Dad and Mom today, it was actually earlier this morning but with all the bad weather we've had here today, we JUST NOW plugged all the puters back in. The specialist came in this morning and spoke with Curtis's parents, he has some tendon and ligament damage in his arms, but not as much as they first thought, however, there is a lot more muscle damage than was first though, but the specialist thinks they can still save Curtis's arm. His Dad said he thought he was coming back around to being himself cause he was yelling at doctors and nurses this morning when they were changing his dressing, the gauze was pulling and boy I think I'd be yelling to! Brenda (Curtis's Mom) said they have him on morphine for the pain, thank God for that, I didn't get but maybe 45 minutes sleep last night thinking about Curtis and the pain he must be going through. His neck was able to be sewed shut, I think I told you that in the other update, not sure if I did or not. He has a concussion and doesn't remember the accident at all but Brenda did say that he remembered coming to and my husband and I being there with him. She said he asked her to tell us thank you for helping him and staying there with him and not leaving him and he wants to meet us. Brenda and I both cried together on the phone, we have children very close in age and being a Mom and loving our children and something like this happening just lets two heart pour out tears together I guess. Brenda ad her husband wanted to replace my cell phone that got fried from it getting soaked int he rain, I told them absolutely not, I wouldn't hear of it, all I wanted from them was for them to take care of that boy, that cell phone doesn't mean anything to me. It actually does now though, cause my other stinkin cell phone wouldn't make a darn call out, it had no signal at all! I always carried my pre paid cell phone with me for emergencies in case we needed it and our other phones wouldn't call out. Thank God it worked!! It may be fried but I'm keeping it, sentimental reasons I guess. Anyhow, I don't want a replacement cell phone from them, I just want Curtis to be ok. My hubby and I are going to head to the hospital to see him this weekend, I hope I can hold it together and not cry when we see Curtis. The surgeon is supposed to let them know here very soon when they'll start the skin grafting, please keep praying that Curtis gets through this long road of recovery and will be ok. I'll update again when I have more news. Thank you all, each and every single one of you for all of your thoughts and prayers, your all a God sent! Oh and I also told Brenda (Curtis's Mom) that I posted here at YT about Curtis and what happened and that all of you are praying for him and their family, she started to cry again and asked that I thank you all for her, Curtis and her husband and to let you know your prayers mean the world to them.

| Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Sending prayers for Curtis and hugs to you and hubby for taking care of him. Personally I don't think any 16 year old should be driving without a driver with them...I know it's cool in other areas but I think it's a huge responsibility. God bless you all.

| YT 2000 Club Member | Personally, I totally agree with you, 16 is just way to young to be driving by themselves in my opinion.

| This is such an intense story. Wow, I almost need a second to let it all settle after reading what's transpired. First and foremost I *firmly* believe that people come in to our lives for a reason, so the opposite would be true as well: we come in to others' lives for a reason too. I can barely grasp how truly amazing, wonderful, and miraculous it was that you even saw Curtis! And that you were able to help him, with so much going on! : You should feel so proud that you not only responded but did such a great job!I'm so glad to hear that he's doing as well as he is. Nothing even close to this accident, but I've been in 3 major car accident, each time where our car was totaled. One wound up being a 6 car pile-up/crash, with 5 of those cars crashing in to the driver side of the car (my Mom was driving). They thought for sure she had neck injuries and internal injuries. Believe it or not, while she was cut up and not very pretty looking (of course I think she's beautiful but not beauty pageant quality by any means with cuts and blood and tubes at that time), she only had a mild concussion! (Though she's sustained minor injuries/blows/impact to her head in the two most recent and I do believe her memory is slightly off from that...) The interesting part between that accident and Curtis' is that both him and my Mom were dedicated to some predetermined activity. Him visiting his Dad and going in to the military, while my Mom told the paramedics the entire time she was cooking diner (lasagna) that night... I'd like to think that a person's willpower to live, even if for something as mundane as cooking a big dinner is strong enough to make at least mall miracles happen. Just image the power of positive thoughts by others! ![]() Anyway, I'm glad to hear Curtis is doing as well as he is and I will keep him in my thoughts! |
