Thank you all so much for your opinions!! Hubby and I decided a couple of hours ago that we are indeed going to go with the darker floors Seeing it in person is just wow...it is so darn gorgeous, we both love it! There were a few times that I thought I wanted the lighter...but no matter what I always went back to the dark (we both did) so that is what we will be sticking with If it takes alot more cleaning, well, that's ok with me I'd rather have a floor I love than to get one that I didn't like as much just because it is easier to keep clean We already ordered it and it will be in on Friday and they are coming to install it all on Monday or Tuesday (he is going to call us and let us know exactly when) WOOHOO!!! And they are going to be knocking out our tile in the entry way so I'm sure we are going to have a huge mess but like I care....I just want my new floor, LOL!

Thank you all again for your help and opinions and I will most definitely post pics as soon as everything is all finished!

I just put dark chocolate hard wood floors in my place in March. I love love love them but they are a lot of work. I have a black and white kitty and the white hair shows up immediately. I am constantly cleaning and vacuuming but I think that is a good thing....because with carpet or lighter hardwood floors you don't see the dirt, dust, cat hair, etc so you are less likely to clean as often even though it is still there. The dark wood keeps me on my toes and keeps my home cleaner....funny how that works, huh?

Good Choice!!!

ANOTHER vote for the Darker one!!! I like it I think it matches better... but that could just be me... both of them are nice but I just like the darker one better! good luck with what ever you decide!

It's your backyard that caught my eye. Looks so inviting. And I do like the dark with your goldish walls.

If you are using wood I think color is all about your decor. Good luck but check out a finished laminate floor before choosing it.
Ok....I lied, LOL. I don't know why on earth I told you my new floors were laminate I guess I just read what YOU wrote and wasn't thinking...LOL. They actually ARE NOT laminate...they are vinyl planks I HAVE read that alot of people have trouble "keeping up" with the laminate (cleaning it, etc.) so I am just so sorry that you are unhappy with them

When you were looking at floors, did you happen to check into the vinyl? I have heard WONDERFUL things about them. Water cannot damage them and they do not scratch like real wood does and they are also much easier to keep. These are all the reasons why I decided to go with vinyl instead of real hardwood In person, they really do look (they have the "grooves" in them) and feel like real hardwood...they are just so pretty! They put these floors in ALOT of homes now...even in alot of the Parade of Homes houses here

Your right, that DOES make sense...lol. It will definitely keep me on my toes I too have a black and white cat so I'm sure I will be cleaning my new floors non stop BUT, as I said in a previous post...I would rather be cleaning my floors more versus getting a color that I didn't really want just because it was easier to keep clean You know how it is!! I actually went last night and bought one of the Shark Cordless Sweepers and OMG, I tried that thing out and it is absolutely AMAZING!!! If you don't have one already, I would seriously look into getting one! I love it because they are light and easy to push around, and they are completely and totally cordless so you can just zoom around the house with it not having to worry about moving the cord around from room to room when it doesn't reach I think this is probably be best $30 I've ever spent! They are AWESOME!! Can you tell that I am getting all prepared for my new floors??? LOL

I'm jealous. I've been bugging hubby to pull all the carpet on the upper level and put in hard wood floors but he isn't going for it. Our carpet is only about 4 years old but I just hate carpet now.

I did talk him into doing it for the lower level but I'm still trying on the upper.

I told him, the next hunting trip he takes, he's going to come home and I'll have it all done I'm call that 588-2300-EMPIRE !!!! LOL

I like them both and think they would both look great! (I know, I'm alot of help!)

Hahaha, you crack me up girl!! Our carpet is not quite even 5 years old yet (it was brand new when we bought this house) but I am just like you in that I HATE carpet...and I mean I HATE IT I swear I would even rip it out of the darn bedrooms if I had my way about it It's soft and comfy to walk on but man it is just a PAIN, especially with animals (namely the cat who gets hair everywhere!) I'd rather sweep over the entire house with my new Cordless Shark Sweeper than to drag out that big clunky vacuum cleaner ANY day

But I think you've got the right idea girl....when hubby goes on his hunting trip, go get your floor and have them install it while he's still away, LOL!! That way he won't be able to say too much Hahaha! Seriously though, I hope you get them soon girl!

Yes! I have a cordless shark vacuum as well. Good Call!!! It doesn't do a serious vacuum job like a more powerful vac but it is good for just light cleaning. Sometimes the cat hair is too fine and it just pushes it around on the floor but it is great for cleaning up quick spills and so forth. I'm excited for you, I was the exact same way....I waited so long to get the floors I wanted.

Oh good...I am so glad to hear that! He said that if everything went PERFECTLY SMOOTH (which I doubt, LOL) that they could POSSIBLY get it done in a day or a day and a half...but he said that most likely it will be 2 days They have to knock out tile as well, and they are doing my living room, entry way, kitchen and hall (living room and kitchen are huge!) not to mention closets, kitchen pantry, and also the laundry room Ahhh, I just can't wait - SO LONG, CARPET!
