You should be able to go into the assessor's office and contest the value they set. That’s what we had to do when we first moved into our house. If you have a recent appraisal that will help, but recent home sales should work also. And if it works you can also get abatement for the year before and get some of those taxes back.

Not in vegas or cali they will bring there own appaser and if they say its less you will charged diff. next year and this year too bad as they say

That sucks. Same thing that happened with my insurance. It was already 30K above the assessed value (which actually is pretty reasonable) but insurance isn't supposed to cover land value, and then they went over everything and said it is now worth 40K over the assessed value and we can't go back to the old value. Oh, and of course our lender thinks its worth 70K Under what the insurance company has us valued at. What a joke
