tell me what you think of this business for dogs and humans!

great point...maybe not ont he haircut...but manis and pedis...mostly likely but massage is probably the only thing that actually could work. so down to manicure and pedicure with a massage for humans. becuase this business is going to cater to dogs. the humans are an afterthought. LOL jk.

I think this could possibly be a very successful business for you! I would love to be able to watch my dogs being groomed and a massage or pedicure would just add to it!

I do know that my two act better with the groomer or vet when I'm not around, so if they see me while they're getting groomed, they might not sit still very well. Maybe two seperate rooms with a two way mirror could be an option?

I think it'd be great to be able to relax while your babies are being groomed! I think it'd be neat to have a hairstylist there! I'm super picky about who does my hair, but if the stylist was very professional I think it'd be a fun idea! Although, the manicurist & massage therapist are sure to be successes! Hope your salon is near us someday!!!

I think that's a GREAT idea!! However, I have my manicurists license, and here in mass I don't think that would fly..I think they would look at having animals in the same room has humans as being unsanitary. Of course that is here...and they may have changed the rules since I had my business (10 yrs ago)

These are my same thoughts, you would have to check with state and city laws. The only other problem I see is the noise factor. The groomer I go to keep the dogs in wire cages before and after being groomed. Some of these dogs just bark and bark. It can be very nerve racking. Even if the people and dogs are done in different rooms the barking can be very annoying.

Actually, I think she's right. I think a lot of people probably think this way. You have an excellent idea there, but what about trying a different marketing strategy? Advertise it as a luxury spa/whatever towards HUMANS and put the pet services on there as a bonus--it will add to the luxury appeal of your business. It's all about amenities. Then, you could also advertise the grooming salon seperately as "The grooming salon inside of _______." The dog salon could still be your main focus, but you'll be appealing to a broader range of clientele by advertising this way. But, that's JMO.
