| My 82 yr. old mother was bitten by a blue heeler that didn't have rabies shots. She lives in MS so I feel soooooo far away. At least I have 3 sisters and 1 brother living there. The dog took a chunk out of the back of her leg; had to have 14 stitches and tons of meds. She had gotten stuck in all the mud they have down there and walked onto a yard where the family was even outside watching her come up to the house. She said she was just standing there talking to the family and he bit her. Guess the dog is now quarantined for 10 days to see if Mom has to go through the rabies series. Actually, I am surprised that the county is doing anything. The county they live in has an ex-con as a sheriff who's afraid to even set foot outside his home at night. Everything is run in a hap-hazardous way in all the government departments. My entire family belongs to a very conservative religious group that won't have anything to do with going to law-enforcement for help. Just glad the docs are pursuing the right procedures.

| Oh my gosh that is really horrible what happened to your mom. And to think the owners of the dog were right there when it happened. Bless her heart, I hope the dog doesn't have rabies so she won't have to get those shots. That's a lot of stitches and medicine. It sounds like she's getting really good care though. Tell your mom I wish her well. On a lighter note, I have to say that was so....funny when you said about the ex-con sheriff who won't even step outside his home @ night. Funny but very sad @ the same time.
