| When people in positions of authority act like this it is shameful. Many let their egos get in front of their humanity. It is an abuse of authority. It makes them small. They never realise it, though. I lived in a small southern town many years ago. I had a couple of policemen get mad at me for not comping their food. One in particular got very angry with me when I told him that he was trying to make me break the law... the products were not mine and he was trying to make me steal to give to him. He told me that if I ever needed them (the police) they would take their time in getting there. Another one 'trapped' me between himself and the squad car and made unsuccessful sexual advances towards me. I was only in my twenties and they did their best to intimidate me into doing what they wanted. It is shameful. They are abusing their powers, but when you live in a small town, they 'are the law' and it is difficult. They have the ability to make your life miserable and, sadly, we are not all Erin Brocovich. Would that we were. I know how you feel. It is an abomination and total abuse of power. Sadly, they can make your life miserable. If you go against them, in most instances, you are in for the fight of your life. Getting someone to actually listen is the harderst part of all. Last edited by sammiz; 03-13-2008 at 12:24 AM. |

| your police department sounds downright useless and corrupt. I wish you knew where to complain. Otherwise, seems as if it is time to move. I feel so sad for what happened to your grandmother.
