Ugh! First off let me say I live in a small town and the officers around here are most known for hanging out at the truck stop or Taco Bell and not really doing their job. They also are the most unfriendly group of people you will ever meet. It doesn't matter if you are the ones in trouble or asking for help, they are crappy. Back to why I posted this thread.

Today my husband and my son went to the bank and on their way back they noticed two police cars and a fire truck in front of hubbys great grandmothers house. He started to panic (she lives on a fairly busy road and they had that section blocked off) so he pulls over and parks in the church parking lot, gets out, and then gets my son out of his carseat and proceeds to walk close to the officer. Well my husband no longer said "My grandma...." and the officer said that's the churches parking lot, move your car. Hubby then just said alright but this is my grandmothers house and I want to make sure she is alright. He said (in a rude tone) that she is fine it was her garage that caught on fire. He wouldn't even let my husband speak with her. She is in her 80's and her husband recently passed on and she gets very nervous quickly. He refused to let hubby talk to her so my husband just left. No sense in arguing because he wasn't going to win. It was just the night before my mom was in CVS and the police yelled at an elderly gentlemen (the store went on lockdown and he couldn't get to his wife and was scared). This is bulls**t!!!! :mad: I honestly have never seen such a rude group of guys in my life!!!! They wonder why my generation doesn't give them any respect....this is why. I just had to vent. Sorry if I'm overreacting but I was just fuming today. Our local law inforcement is terrible and slow at that.

Aww, I'm sorry. That must've been so scary for your husband. I know I would've panicked.

They sound like the police in the town I'm originally from. :p

I would be upset too! Sounds like they are taking advantage of their authority positions.

Is your hubbys grandma o.k, was the fire bad?

I am so sorry! How is she doing by the way? Their attitude really stinks, I agree. Have you thought about filing a complaint? Uh oh...small town, maybe a bad idea??

Yeah, hubby always says they need to send ol' Barney Fife out. :) We never have to worry about our Taco Bell getting robbed though. LOL

I would file a complaint (maybe with the state police). Maybe they can investigate.

Isn't that always the problem? Small town gives them a false sense of "bravado"; then small town makes it too "uncomfortable" to do anything about it.

So sorry to hear about his grandma and the elderly man in the drug store. Hugs to you all!

That's horrible. Could you maybe write an anonymous letter to the editor of the paper.

I'm sorry your husband wasn't able to get to his great-grandmother's, that was totally uncalled for! Don't let them intimidate you into not taking further action.

I wouldn't hesitate to file a complaint with your State officials, police chief, and your mayor. Also, I would ask to be heard at your next town council meeting. It would help your case if there are a few other towns people that would speak out on the officer's rude behavior too.

I live in a very small town and have to give kudos to our officers. Although at times they can seem a little overzealous, for the most part they are all very polite and willing to help, especially when it comes to elderly citizens.

His grandma is alright. Thank God! She has a detached garage and luckily it didn't damage her cars. I was so scared for her because she gets so easily nervous. I remember at Christmas she told me the wind kept her up and she was scared so she didn't sleep at all. One of the other family members came and stayed with her after the officers and fire department left.

Gee, you would think they would of been happy to let your husband talk to her and calm her down and all. What Jerks!!

She is doing good. I thought about complaining but my mom said that they would probably pull me up and follow me everywhere. :rolleyes:

That is what I'm thinking of. I think you have to list your name in our paper. I'm going to look into doing that. I'm not the type that ever lets anyone walk on me. I have too much of my mom in me. LOL

A couple of years ago my mom was having problems with teenagers in her yard late at night. She would call the police almost nightly and they would say they were coming and never would show and then it happend. My brother truck was vandalized, they had pooped on my parents porch, toilet papered (which really didn't bother my parents) and they also had paint ball guns in their vehicle. That night my mom caught them on her security camera and phoned the police and they finally came after the damage was done. :rolleyes: I'm sure other people have just as much problems as we do with them.

That's what we thought. My husband call his mom and told her to call grandma because they wont let me through. It's ridiculous.
