| An unlikely friend First let me say I am afraid of large dogs and have held some prejudices against them. My Neighbors have a german sheppard that is kept outside all the time. He gets very little attention. He is very mean and acts like he would attack anyone who comes near his fence. His yard is right by where My Husband parks his an so one morning My Husband started saying his name and eventually the dog let him pet him. I started doing the same thing baby talking to him and he would just look at me and not bark like he didnt know what to think. The other he let me pet him. Today I gave him a soup bone. I never thought would get the nerve to pet a big dog

| Good for you. Glad you are overcoming your fear. I don't understand why people even have dogs and leave them outside all the time and pay no attention to them.

| I am fearful of some big dogs too, mainly for by babies sake, but it breaks my heart that their owners neglect them. I'm sure he enjoyed the bone. Good for you. Sheilagh

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Good for you and good for dog. He probably gets very little attention. I have known and owned lots of large dogs....and none of them have ever given me a reason to fear them. Ok except for some crazy dog that lives behind my work...the one that attacks the fence. Him I do not trust....

| Awwwww good for you Chachi. Besides helping yourself to be comfortable with a big dog you've made a friend. I'm sure that poor GS is happy to have some attention and a love pat on the head. It tears me up inside to think of all the dogs tired up outside and forgotten! How do people live with themselves. |

| I'm so glad you made a new friend!! Before I had Yorkies we always had a German Shepard, they are so loving. I've been fortunate enough to have been owned by 2 different shepards. Tara 01/24/85-03/12/99 R.I.P. Clancy 03/17/90-12/14/03 R.I.P. |

| Great for you, overcoming your fear! I've volunteered in the animal shelter alot and when I first started volunteering I would not even go in the back where the big dogs were kept. Eventually I got over it, but I stll am wary of unknown big dogs running lose. Even though I'm owned by a pit bull, my neighbors Am Bull scares the poo out of me! He seems like a really sweet dog, but he's so big and muscularif he wanted to do damage he could.

| .........overcoming a fear AND making a new friend. If that dog doesn't get much attention, soon your "pat on the head" and a little friendly talk will be what he has to look forward to. I think it is great that you and your hubby have started to "befriend" him!!
