I am really struggling today. I just wish I could get used to the chantix. I couldnt sleep last night so I was up all night then when I did fall asleep for one hour I had nightmares. I am still also getting nausous after I take the medicine. The good news is the chantix is getting into my system and I am starting to smoke less. You really dont get a hit from the cigarette plus they taste really strong. Your supposed to stay smoking your frst week your on it so Wednesday will be my first day without a cigarette. You just hang in there ok? Think about what you could buy if you didn't buy cigarettes. Or do like I did, my mom died when she was 48 from lung cancer - she didnt get to see me graduate high school, see me get married, see my children - nothing. So when I would hit a road bump, I just said I WILL LIVE TO SEE MY CHILDREN GRADUATE- I WILL LIVE TO SEE MY GIRLS GET MARRIED- I WILL LIVE TO SEE NOT ONLY MY GRANDBABIES BUT MY GREAT GRANDBABIES. Look at it that way. My motto? I will die an old crotchety lady who annoys the crap out of her children and grandchildren, lol. And if I die before my time it won't be self inflicted from cigarettes.

I'm one year smoke free last February...all due to Chantix. It's the only thing that ever worked for me after smoking for over 30 years. Just stick with it and it gets easier and easier. I took 1/2 pill two or three times a day and it helped with the nausea and insomnia. I didn't take the full course of the drug...just til the craving stopped. Do you have the free Silkquit meter? It really helped me a lot because I knew if I smoked, I would have to go back and reset it. Remember to let time pass...just a couple of minutes and you will lose the craving. YOU CAN DO IT!

I have been a non smoker for 14 months now. I used the chantix for 2 1/2 months. The side affects are horrible...but better than lung cancer right? You can do it! We are all cheering you on!

It'll be 4 months for me on the 11th. I'm glad the price went up on cigarettes cause thats the big thing keeping me from smoking. If they were cheaper it would be easier for me to go back, but I refuse to pay that much for a pack of cigarettes.
Hope your feelin alright. We have to stick together with this and support each other. I think about it just about every day, but it grosses me out to smell it. Also, I haven't drank since I quit. The 2 just seemed to go together.
I have saved some serious money!!!!

Good luck to you in quitting smoking. I know how hard it is but you'll be breathing better very soon. You'll notice the difference, I know I did. Drink lots of water. For some reason it helped me.

Hello,

My husband just quit smoking on the Chantix. It really worked for him and he has quit for a month now. He didn't get nauseous, but he had the weirdest dreams for the first 4 to 5 nights. THen that passed and he was fine. I went to the doctors last week and got my prescription so I will be starting it soon. I am going to set a date for myself to quit. I am probably going to fill my prescription this week. I am also very worried about the head aches and the nausea because I have a weaker stomach than my hubby. But he ate every time he took a pill and he was fine. So thats what I will do.

I do hope you start feeling better. It is so worth it not smoking, I didn't believe it and no one could make me believe it, but I feel SOOOOO much better. I think about cigarettes every now and then, but the thought of smoking again just makes me ill.

Hopefully the sick feelings will go away soon. I hope so. I wish I would have been stronger while using the Chantix and worked my way through the upset stomach. Doesn't matter now though, I quit and I won't ever smoke another one. Looks like you have plenty here to stand by you....so keep it up..you won't regret it.

Not to scare anyone, but I'm on day 11 and the side effects are getting worse for me. I'm going to call my doc today to see what he suggests. Maybe I'll be able to cut the dose down to a smaller dose.

I have a lot nausea, acid reflux, painful muscle and I'm extremely irritable! I don't think it's nicotine withdrawl either, I think it's the chantix causing me to be so grouchy and touchy.

Oh and the DREAMS!

WOW! I'm kind of enjoying them

Very vivid and I've dreamed of people I went to school with, all the way back to kindergarten!

I don't want to stop the Chantix because I really feel like it's helping, but these sx are not good!

How are you doing Chachi??

I am SOOOOOOOO proud of you!!!!!!

We don't realize how much we do in our life to accomodate smoking until we quit and realize at certain points we have nothing to do cuz this is 'smoke break time' or something! Ive been there. I quit but went back. So I am still smoking!

I know I'll quit again someday, but right now Im not ready to give it up. I truely believe you need to be ready to do that. You are sooo ready chachi and my Congradulations and support goes out to you!!!

I know you can do it!

Great job girls! Keep it up, it will get way easier after the first month,drink lots of water to flush the nicotine out of your body faster.

Yay! Congratulations on your first smoke free day!
Don't you love knowing when you wash your hair it will stay fresh? When I quit I kept asking my husband, don't I smell good? Smell me!

I wouldn't worry about the nausea returning now that you are past it. Day 2 was the hardest day for me but it got easier every day afterward.
