Quiting smoking I am quiting smoking starting today.I am taking Chantix and going to a smoking cessation class. Keep me in your thoughts this is gonna be hard for me I have been smoking for 26 yrs. My Husband is so happy he has been worried about me dying because of the smoking. Any tips that anyone has would be appreciated |
:cheer:Yay Lisa, Your doing it Congratulations. I'm going on a month without a cigarette . I'm here for you girl anytime you need any support. Remember one day at a time. |
Yay! I quit last year after smoking for over 35 years. You can do it! I used the patch...there were rough times...just keep on going!! Keep telling yourself how much better your hands/hair/clothes smell! Buy great-smelling hand lotion and apply it throughout the day. Pamper yourself! Good luck! |
From one former smoker to another soon to be former smoker...hang in there! It's tough, but SO worth it. It sucks for only about a week or so, after that it doesn't bother you. Find something to do in the meantime to take your mind off of it and be strong! |
Thank you! It is gonna be hard but My Husband is buying me a new laptop for quiting. I am also putting the money I save in a jar so I can get some things with it |
I found chewing gum really helped. |

I will pray that you beat the addiction. I stopped smoking the evening of August 30, '07, after 36 years. I tried the Chantix, but it made me nauseous (it did work for my husband though and he smoked 2-3 packs a day). I won't lie...there will be times you'll still crave one..I do still, but not near as often. What tip I can offer is when you get that craving....get up and do something different to take your mind off of it. Even if it's just walking to another room. Change your routine...for instance..if you're use to smoking while putting on your makeup...do it in a different room, different mirror...etc. I use to sit at a makeup mirror to dry my hair...now I stand in the bathroom. Anyway that you can change your 'smoking' routine will help. I also had Tic Tacs on hand. Best wishes...you CAN do it if you really want. I never wanted it as much as I did that August day and I've quit. |
Wishing you the best of luck. Sheilagh |

You can do it! I smoked for 29 yrs. and quit 12 yrs. ago. I never thought I could do it, but I did! My sister and her husband used the chantix just recently with great sucess, they both have been smoking for probably closer to 40 yrs. Good luck, just keep trying, even if you slip up and have one, dont give up! |

Taking up exercise in place of smoking is supposed to work well as a replacement. Good luck you have me thinking! |
