Ugh, Rusty's in an e-collar - Page 3 - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Mostly good news. The last of the bloodwork came back, and all is well there.

The bad news is he doesn't know what caused the problem in the first place, so he has nothing to treat other than the infection.

Who knows? He had just gotten over a loose stool problem and had been on antibiotics, so maybe that caused it.

So I'm just going to keep an eye on him and make sure the irritation doesn't return. The vet wants a recheck in a month or two. He's doing well around the house in the e-collar and doesn't chew when I take it off, so I'm optimistic we'll be through with that in a week or so.

awww look at poor Rusty in that cone.

sometimes dogs just get hot spots. one little thing can bother them so they scratch at it. then the area gets irritated so they scratch some more, then start biting and licking or scooting. pretty soon you have yourself a red bald spot that may or may not open up. did the vet give you animax or panalog to put on it?

I got an email from Mike when he took him into the vet letting me know.

I'm glad that Rusty is doing well with the lampshade, and that Jack and Eddie aren't overly freaked out about it. I thought it'd bother them, so its good that its not too bad for them.

That's really weird that it came on so suddenly. Maybe it was from the antibiotics. Who knows?

Awww...He doesnt look too thrilled about that.

I had to put one on Daisy after her spay..she kept licking her wound..She hated the collar!

Anyway, I hope Rusty gets bettter in no time.

Nah, just a topical spray called Betagen. They say it doesn't sting, but Rusty doesn't like when I spray it on him.

that's a good anti-itch spray. probably doesn't feel the best on his spot because it does contain a small amount of alcohol. it will work tho

Ahhhh ... Rusty looks so sad, poor baby! Tell him Toto sends lots of hugs and kisses!! She has a weakness for Labs, you know!!
