| I would say iPods are better than most M3P players- but probably not all. I guess it's all a matter of preference (how many songs you want to be able to have, how much you want to spend, etc.). The good thing about iPods is they come with a warranty and you can go to a store for support. As far as where I get songs from- it depends. If I want just one particular song, I download it from the iTunes store. If I want an entire CD, I typically just buy the CD and upload it. Good luck! I love my iPod and feel incomplete when I'm without it! ETA: I have an iPod Nano (2nd generation)- 4 MB, I believe. I've had this particularly one since Oct. 06 and I have never filled it up!

| Are you wanting to do videos, movies, tvshows or just music?? If just music and you want something basic/cheaper then you could go with a MP3. My friends just bought me an ipod shuffle for working out and I love it! It holds 240 songs so its perfect size and everything! My nieces and some of my friends prefer the Zune to Ipod for videos and music. ETA - lol, thats probably not a lot of help but just more info to take in =)

| I got an I-pod w/Christmas money, and I love it! I got the 8GB Nano, and it holds way more than I thought it would! Plus, if you get I-Pod vs. another brand, there are WAY more accessories for cheaper prices than the newer MP3 players. A tip for you-if you want the little case/socks for I-Pod, Walmart has the cheapest by far!!! I got 3 colorful rubber skins for it for $7! Also, Best Buy wanted to sell me a cable to connect it to my home stereo/receiver, and BB's was $80-Target had the SAME THING for $8! Keep that in mind The newer MP3 players have accessories, but you'll pay more, and likely have to get them at Best Buy rather than discount stores.

| We all have iPods and use iTunes for downloading music (legally finally!). I also use Audible.com for downloading books (GREAT on an iPod/mp3 player).

| My family has alot of players and the big difference for us is weather you use itunes for buying music. If you use other site than an ipod is not for you. I got our ipods on apple as refurbished. A great price and still has a warranty. I like my childrens off brands since you can have a play list on and just add more from any computer without losing whats already on there. I cant figure out how to have music from my computer on my ipod and then plug it into my husbands computer and ADD more music to my existing play list, something to think about. |

| What is the primary use for your player? Ok, well I have an important question.... iPods ARE MP3 players. There is no difference in that dept. Apple (MacIntosh) makes the iPod, but it is still just an MP3 player. Like saying Nike and Reebok make sneakers but they are both sneakers. Ok? Good! Now, what do you want your MP3 player for? Do you want it for listening to around the house/car/anywhere calmer? Or do you want it for working out, running, gym, etc? The iPod has a type of memory (flash memory) that allows it take a beating and keep working. But not all iPods, just the Nano and the Shuffle. So its a good choice for the gym/running purpose. Otherwise you can probably get more for your money with a Zune. Its the PC version of the iPod, made by microsoft. Think of the difference b/t a Mac computer and a microsoft computer. The great thing about the Zune is you can get Radio on it. The iPod you can't. Also the Zune, you can get more 'space' for your money. Its a bit cheaper than the iPod. Both of these MP3 players have, on their website where you can download music and sync it right to the MP3 player quickly and easily. I hope I helped you in anyway that I could. Its important to know what you want it for before you make a purchase, you can overbuy and pay for what you don't need, or you can underbuy and end up having to upgrade and thats a waste of money in my opinion. That being said... I own an iPod Nano 8GB. Good Luck with your decision!!!!

| Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.... We would mainly be using it for music....Hubby is working out at the gym...And I would use mine for while I am walking.... The iPod was most suggested with some examples of: could plug it into our vehicles...Was told that you can plug into stereos to listen at home.... Downloading books would be awesome...Was not aware that was an option... lol...Hubby had a walkman..lol...But apparently it died....lol So am looking to upgrade....Thanks again for all the suggestions and ideas... | I bought a creative zen a few years back because I liked the way it looked over the Ipod but I never figured out how to use it. So I got a Ipod nano in October and I LOVE IT!!! I am sure if you go and check them all out, you will be able to pick one you like best just be sure you see how everything works.
