I understand her frustration but it is definitely a bit callous and cruel. He was one of gods creatures.

This is where you and I have a differene of opinion. I do think it was "just a fish". He was well taken care of and as soon as I was told how to end his life quickly and painlessly, I did it...I would never hurt any animal...but I do think he was "just a fish".

The obit was in no way meant to dishonour him, but to put a humouress spin on his life. I would hope that my own obit would be written in a similar manner...to each his own.

If you honestly believe that I thought it was funny watching him suffer, then you dont know what you are talking about. I dont even know that he was suffering...his breathing wasnt laboured and when he was swimming, he looked like a normal fish.

Anyways, I'm done...:rolleyes:

Well am sure you done your best by Mr fishy. He sure sounds like he was happy most of the time. And am sure he would love to be remembered, just as you have done.

I cant even respond to that....you seem to honestly believe that I am making fun of a suffering animal. Wishing my fish tank would get stolen is like wishing a freak snowstorm would keep my hubby and daughter stranded at my folks house for the night. It was meant....never mind....I'm just going to sign off this thread now.

We flushed our fish down the toilet to Jesus. But it is OK...she had already passed over the fishee rainbow :D My husband did this with my 7 yr old and 3 yr old watching and when he finished the 3 yr old ran into the kitchen and said Mommy, Daddy flused Patricia down the toilet to Jesus :)

Maybe I'm weird, but of the other two fish I've ever owned -- I've always buried them when they passed on =/.. I never could bear the thought of flushing them.

I've quite enjoyed this thread...don't let them get to you. If it bothers them perhaps they shouldn't come back and continue to read.

I'm glad I'm not alone here! I remember my mom made so much fun of me when I told her that my DH and I had had a funeral service for my little Cherry the Betta fish!

I got him a special box and everything. I miss that little fish!

That is so sweet. I have some that have passed that I miss also. I love fish keeping its a very rewarding hobby and a great learning experence for my daughter
