OMG this place is getting worse. The always has to be controversy somewhere. Her fish was sick, she flushed it down the loo, end of story. The fish is gone. None of you have fish for your dinner?????. do you no what happens to the hundreds of thousand of fish that are caught every day!!!!!!. How many whales and dolphins and sharks get killed in fishermen's nets!!!!!!
Jeez it was a goldfish get over it!!!!

I was not judging her at all for flushing her fsh just agreeing with yorkiegirl that I bury mine. I am a softy. I have had a fish that I treated because it was sick and it died and I cried over it

I am not directing that post at anyone specificially, I think its really cute that you buried yours. Am just saying the way things can go in here. It has been happening a lot lately.
A light hearted thread has turned into something not really nice at all.

I do know that some people feel stronger about certain things, like Toby for example, than I do. I did know that some people wouldnt like this thread, but I really didnt expect that anyone would suggest that I get pleasure out of watching an animal suffer.

If Toby and I had a loving relationship that I would have with a family member, a friend...or a yorkie, then I certainly wouldnt have made this thread. A sick loved one would tear my heart out and I would do whatever I could to preserve its life and comfort. But Toby was a fish that I had no sentimental attachment to, and he had none to me.

Dishes...I really have to go wash dishes now.

EDITED: By the way, I once had a goldfish that jumped out of his tank and he died. I cried for 2 days.

I probably shouldn't share this....but as a kid...our goldfish died, we buried him...three days later me and my brother tried digging him back up...to see his little fish bones (like you saw on cartoons)...btw, we didn't find him. :rolleyes:

I probably shouldnt share this either, considering that some people think I'm a monster ;) , but when I was 6 I buried a gerbil and dug it up a week or so later because I wanted to see the bones (like you saw on a cartoon of an animal either getting x-rayed or shocked! :eek: :eek: :eek: I wasnt too pleased with what I found :(

Oh my stars!!! Lmao....I guess we were lucky fish decompose faster than gerbils.

Personally I liked Toby's obituary. :)

Btw, since I have read this thread and the PETA thread....peta guest columinist in the paper last week or so...says fish feel love, joy, pain, grief, and have the mental capacity of a 5 year old....which made me ponder if the fish in our tank here....are really smarter than my 3 year old neice.:rolleyes:

I would have to argue that...I don't think they are smarter than your 3 year old neice. However I do believe that some of them may be smarter than my 16 year old son :rolleyes:

I think everyone needs to lighten up a little bit. I love animals as much as anyone on here, but its not like she tortured it. Go read the thread about what was done to a pregnant pitbull, then come back here and say what a horrible thing she did putting the fish out of its misery. :rolleyes: She didn't put it in the frying pan and cook it for dinner. She just gave it vodka - something a lot of people told her to to do. She didn't abuse him or anything, she just didn't have an emotional attachment to him.

I agree! Some people need to lighten up a little. Do you mean to tell me that they don't kill spiders, or cockroaches or other "critters"? They are all "God's" creatures as well. I have a 25 gallon tank with 3 goldfish, an algea eater and some bottom feeders. I really don't feel the need to give them a "proper" burial or grieve when they die. I can't cuddle my fish nor can they cuddle with me or even realize that I exist. I just can't get emotionally attached to them. They are soothing to watch but that is about it. Sorry if this offends anyone but it's just my opinio:rolleyes: n.

I wasn't criticizing anyone here when I said that I burried my fish :).

I personally think that every creature I bring into my home is family and it does break my heart when something happens to them. I guess I get attached that way.

I also can't kill a spider or bug, I guess I'm strange! I'm deathly afraid of spiders and bees, but have never been able to kill them myself.

Ok here is why I can't lighten up..
Some one brings a fish into there home.. It is relying on you to feed it and take care of it. If it gets sick it is your responsibility to take care of it.
So you come on YT ad Poke fun at how it wont die and plot how to kill it.
Yes as soon as you figured it out you did just that.. But how can you say for sure it did not suffer????
Whether it is a Fish, Dog ,Cat ,or Rat or any other (PET) you agree to take care of it when you bring it home. A Bug that you find in your home is Different. You did not voluntarely bring it there.
I am Glad that Toby is no longer suffering.. And I hope when you get your Yorkie you don't fee the same way about (A DOG).

I had to do a search, fish don't have brains..when ours died(thank God that was when the kids were younger), they went down the toilet..
