I mounted a stick on thermometer on the side of his bowl and he flared at it so much and just wouldn't quit, that I finally had to take it down. And when I added pretty "cube" rocks, he would slam into them and he got a small scrape so I had to take that out too! He apparently just likes his one plant  |

Checking for an update on the fish? Is he still alive?? It's been a few hours.. i hope you have found a pleasant way to help him not suffer anymore |
VANCOUVER - Toby the fish, age unknown, died today. While he provided owner, Kanda, much grief and several ulcers, he was ultimately loved and well cared for. Much of his time was spent swimming, playing dead and eating Kanda's other fish friends. It appears that Toby crossed the rainbow bridge in a drunken stupor; witnesses found a Smirnoff Vodka bottle on the scene, thougt it is unclear as to who actually drank the vodka. A private memorial service will be held for friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to their favourite charity. |
This may sound funny but the fish may have a bladder infection...I can't remember what the treatment is. When they swim like that and seem to be strong otherwise it can be the reason. I will ask my dad about it later. He is a fish and general pet man. Oh well scrap that. |

This is where you and I have a differene of opinion. I do think it was "just a fish". He was well taken care of and as soon as I was told how to end his life quickly and painlessly, I did it...I would never hurt any animal...but I do think he was "just a fish". The obit was in no way meant to dishonour him, but to put a humouress spin on his life. I would hope that my own obit would be written in a similar manner...to each his own. |

Maybe I'm weird, but of the other two fish I've ever owned -- I've always buried them when they passed on =/.. I never could bear the thought of flushing them. |
