*gag* okra is so gross! Mom used to make me eat fried okra (ah the joys of bein a southern girl), i'd eat the breading off of it, and sneak the okra to the dog. :D |
Do I dare say I like to dabble and eat pickled okra??? |

Gramma would cook it and we had to eat it.. Well years later I tried it at the Barrel and LOVED it Crazy but Yummy. |
I like it just sauted in butter and some spices - not sure how you southerners eat it.:D |
Okra Ok I love okra. I love it raw, boiled, boiled with tomatoes, fried, in soup, in gumbo and any other way you can think to fix it. I wish people here would QUIT making judgements about OKRA that haven't even tried it. Myboy has been a very bad influence on Gypsy who has never tried Okra and has decided she doesn't like it. Lynda, you are so very funny! Thank you for making me laugh! To everyone reading this thread -- it is all meant in fun! |
I Love It In My Creole Gumbo....and Especially Cooked In With My Speckled Butter Beans Yuuummmmmmmmmmm I Like It Fried...but Dare To Indulge!! |
Fried okra is like popcorn...............I just keep eatin' it:) |
Hey I love Okra!!! you people just dont be knowin':p |
Being from the Frozen North....I gotta ask....what exactly is okra?? |
Another okra hater here. My hubby likes pickled okra so I buy it for him though. My mom likes (gasp) okra and tomatoes! Ick! I can't even handle the smell. A few times my grandma got us confused and she made ME okra and tomatoes. I couldn't even eat them to spare my grandmother's feelings. |

Okra is looks sort of like a fuzzy gray-green pepper. It's a veggie loved by many southerners. If you cook it any way other than frying it is really slimy. Here's the wikipedia link-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okra They look really green in the pictures but that's because they're still raw. |

If so, I dare you to try it. You can't NOT like something just cause someone else doesn't. If that were the case, you would have to LIKE it just cause other people do. :) :p Gee maybe we can ship a crate of okra to Vicky after she has Amelia.:yelrotflm |

Where are you from? You simply can not be from NY and like okra! I just can't accept that!:p |
Quote:
Well, ok - if you don't even want to be opened minded and try it... even though those of us you TRUST on here tell you it's good. :p I think the seeds are a great idea!!!!!:) |

I like it breaded like at Cracker Barrel, but it's best hard fried the way my mom makes it. So it's crunchy. Of course I'm a southern girl from TN. |
