| AAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKK(sorry, can't spell scream) It's almost xmas, right? Here I am whacking myself in the head trying to figure out how I am going to do any xmas shopping for anyone this year and pay bills and I have to take my car in to the garage - little service light came on 2 weeks ago and the battery died. I jump it and get it to the garage and they say about $75.00 to check the light and battery, then the cost of the battery. Not what I wanted to hear, but had to be done. I got the call, good news is there seems to be nothing wrong as far as the light - maybe a water bubble in the gas line. It was the O2 sensor and it is fine. Put in a new battery, ok, total is $217.41 (that better be a gold plated battery!). Now, the bad news - it needs another $1000.00 worth of work. 4 bald tires that'll cost me $760.50!!! Looks like I can be expecting some flat tires in the near future, cause those repairs are not anywhere in the forseeable future. Belts are cracked and needs oil change - of course. I can't complain since I haven't put any extra into it since 2004 when we got it, but Holy Cow! Why all this at xmas??? Guess I better get a third job .

| ouch! soory to hear that! I myself need new tires I can think of a TON of things I would rather spend $800 on ( like my dog ) but I guess I need to be safe. Maybe having all this work done now will save you in the long run, financialy and physicaly!

| I got mine there, too..its was about $30 a tire. And that held me over until I was able to spend more and getting better tires..I think it gave me about 10k miles, but I also got the CHEAPEST and I also had an old, small car! GOOD LUCK! When it rains, it pours, huh? Next time..go to a Auto Advance..they can do free check on the engine light and tell you why it's on..they also recharge batteries for free!

| Sandy sorry to hear about the car. You must know by now whenever the holidays arrive also expect the unexpected to arrive. It's like when you find extra money your almost sorry you did because you know darn well something is going to happen to make you spend it on a bill! Be safe and go to Walmart and get tires. |

| It has been a miserable year for many people, I know. That's the only reason I don't feel as bad as I should. I know I'm not alone. As for the tires - I have 18" tires. Nissan Murano - takes truck tires. Our truck, I always called it "The Beast" was a Ford 350 Diesel 1-ton Powerstroke (Bright Red) and it too 35" tires that cost $350.00 apiece!! They were the same tires that are on my stepson's Hummer. Walmart's are a little cheaper - not much. I found one place that has them for $25 cheaper-each. So that's $100 I'll save. But it's gonna have to wait till after xmas. I pray that the new year brings much better things to all the families that are having so much financial and emotional stress this year.

| When it rains it pours. We're in the same boat. Too many bills and not enough to buy Christmas food and groceries.

| Hi, You can try Sam's club if your a member there or know someone who is. My hubby needed 2 new front tires during the summer to pass inspection. His dealership wanted three something for 2 tires. So we look around for cheaper tires. And we got two new ones at Sam's club for about $120. And that included them mounting them for you and getting rid of old tires. Good luck with your car.

| Does it help to think about the baby grandson of one of our members who is fighting for his little life? Or the people who lost loved one's in the mall shooting last week? Or the family who lost their teenager in a stupid drunk driving accident the other day? Sorry you are having a hard time but when I get down about things like that, I try to count all the things I do have to be grateful for. And I can always find so many things to thank god for and it helps me put things in perspective. |

| I feel so bad for you. We are in the same boat. We are retired and supporting my daughter and her two kids while she is going to school. She doesn't work and gets no child support. We were going out to do some Christmas shopping today and my car was making a funny noise in the engine and it already makes a funny noise when it backs up. So now we are going to have to take it in to the shop but I think that is going to have to wait until another pay check Just hope it lasts that long.
