We had THE BEST TIME in KC. I completely agree with Kathy, that although PM's, posts, emails and phone calls are great - nothing compares to meeting in person. It was almost as much fun to meet all the furbutts in person, too!!!!!

I really think this group is going to have a special bond. Everyone was as great as I imagined and I feel like I have lots of new friends for life!!!!!!!

If there is another meet-up next year or after that - anyone who didn't make it to KC should really try to go. Our Michigan group has regular meet-ups and they are so much fun and the people are great friends. But, this meet-up was really something ultra-special.

Obviously, we made it home safely (as did Cyndi - IzzyPrincess). I have photos yet to download, so I'll be posting those in the next day or two. I have lots of orders to work on this week and then I'll be back to posting.

Richard and I just drove in a little while ago. We are exhausted from the drive and the busy, busy weekend but it was worth it.

I had the best time meeting everybody. The time went by so fast though that I feel like I missed out really getting to know some of the people that were there. I only got to spend Sat. at the meet up and didn't get to stay for the jammie party but I am grateful for what time I did get to spend there. I must say that I knew y'all were awesome from your postings but to see the joy on peoples faces and see the gleam in their eyes and hear the laughter in their voices made my heart swell with pride that I got to actually meet you in person.

Lisa and Linda there are not enough words that I can say to thank you for all the work you did to make this dream come true. From the bottom of my heart I thank you.

So sorry for the delay! I know the trouble all too well - and had multiple delays when flying with my 2 earlier this year.

So glad you made the journey.

I think all everyone felt like it was well worth it!!

Brooke and I are sooooo glad we went to KC!!! We had a great time meeting all of you and your babies! I only wish it was longer so that I could get to know everyone better. My favorite time was the pajama party! The babies were so cute in their pj's and we all got down on the floor with them to cuddle and play. I hope we do have more YT meetups in the future!
Lisa & Linda did an incredible job organizing this whole event!! We can never thank them enough!!
Brooke and I almost didn't get home last night! I was flying stand-by and we got on the first flight out of Kansas City but when we got to Denver we didn't get on the flight to SF. They had cancelled one SF flight and one LA flight earlier so there were a ton of stand by's waiting for the flights. I did some quick thinking and decided to see if there was a flight to San Jose and there was one that was delayed by 30 mins, so we ran to the gate and was able to get on that flight. The agent told me that if I hadn't gone to San Jose, I wouldn't have gotten on to SF flights all night and I would have been stuck in Denver!

I've got some pics that I will post tomorrow!

I too ran into some flight delays. First, the plane that was supposed to take me out of KC was late coming in, so since I already had a short layover anyway, I had to race. When I got into Phoenix, the minute my plane touched down, the other flight had begun boarding. I had to run to the next gate.

So, we got on the plane fine, and all looked well until the pilot informed us that some hydraulic warning thing was not responding, and they had to bring a tech in to see if it was fine or if we had to change planes. Turns out, we had to change planes. So I had to go back almost to the same place I had just ran from.

About one hour from the time when we were supposed to take off, we began boarding the second plane. Then we sat there for a long time, until the pilot came on and told us that maintenance decided they needed to empty the potty on the plane. That took another 45 minutes.

When we finally took off, it was two hours from the time we were supposed to depart. So I didn't get in until 1:30am.

Oh poo Misty that sounds like you were really worn out by the time you got home! I guess it is better that it happend on the way home and not the way to KC

So glad you made it home safe and sound.

Default If you had trouble with your pet deposit...

Oh, I almost forgot. There was some confusion at check-out, regarding the pet deposit and whether or not it was refundable. They tried to not give us back half of our pet deposit, and I figured some of you might have had a similar problem. So I wanted to post the snippet from the original hotel confirmation. We ended up getting half our deposit back after asking for the manager, but if they did not give you half your deposit back, you have some verbiage to quote to get it back...

Note below, I'll bold and color the important part

I figured they have to check the room out and then it would be refunded at a later date. I will call them and ask about it.

I had a great time in KC! I'm so sad that it's already over. Time flies too fast when you are busy and having fun! Gayla, Cynthia, and I stayed an extra day and left yesterday morning at 6:00am. We stopped in Dallas to see some friends and then stopped in Corsicana to see Vicki (Bleu Boy Barber) so we didn't get home until almost 2:00am! We were all exhausted. The dogs were worn out too. It was nice spending an extra day in KC...we napped after breakfast sunday and then went out on the plaza for lunch and some shopping. And we ran into Misspinkbarbie several times! I only took pictures of the PJ party and breakfast sunday morning since we are getting a CD with pics from the photographer..I'll have to go through them and upload them tonight.

Oh..get this! We had SIX dogs in our hotel room, and we didn't get charged any pet fees!! I'm thinking the hotel messed up because we even filled out pet forms and all, but when we checked out they didn't charge us anything for the dogs. We were so excited LOL.

I hope we can have another meetup sometime..it was really great meeting everyone!

Plane

Sukoshi and I flew back to CA yesterday and arrived about 7:00 pm, and then I had to run home, unpack, and repack to leave for Vegas early this morning for my work staff conference. I checked into my flight late last night and all was well, but when I got to the airport this morning, they told me my flight was cancelled ! I was already "in the doghouse" with my boss since I missed the first day of our staff conference for the YT meet-up (I already had my airline tickets booked for YT when she scheduled the conference), so I was NOT happy to find out the next flight out on the government's contract carrier wasn't for 5 HOURS! I ended up calling my boss and getting permission to NOT fly the contract carrier. I cancelled that ticket and was able to rebook on another airline to get to Vegas the same time as originally planned this morning. Now, I'm finally in my hotel room after a day of BORING seminars, and all I want to do is check all the meet-up pics, but I have several people waiting for my work wireless aircard that we're using to get on the internet, so I can't stay online for long . I'll respond to your posts and pics just as soon as I get another chance.

One thing to note about the pet fee, our contract with the hotel was for a $50 NON-REFUNDABLE pet fee per room for the first 2 dogs in the room. I debated this with that hotel at the time as their fee is normally 1/2 refundable upon check-out, and they said that would NOT be the case with our group since they were allowing us to bring so many dogs at once and would need to do additional sanitation in the rooms and ballroom after we left. Now, if you can get the hotel to refund 1/2 your money, then more power to you, but if they will not agree to do so, that is completely within their right, as that is what is in our contract with them - NON-REFUNDABLE. I'm sure the individual hotel confirmations said the standard text, as it would if you were a "normal" person coming off the street and not bringing so many dogs at once in conjunction with our group.

I will be posting a list of who won all the raffle prizes, but I probably won't have a chance to do that until this weekend. Thank you again to all who donated to the raffle and goodie bags! Both were a great success!

Also, many thanks to Jodie for organizing the vendors, Michele for heading up the raffle and goodie bags, Kathy for donating the prizes for the Crazy Conundrum game, and my mom for being our home base! She was able to accept and organize everyone's raffle and goodie bag items as they shipped them, get us some coupons from some of the Plaza stores (and wonderful samples from Three Dog Bakery), and she helped me stuff all the goodie bags Friday morning before the meet! Oh! And she de-labeled all the water bottles for me too, so I could relabel them with my own labels when I got into town . And thanks to those of you who went to the meet-up, as it wouldn't have happened without each of you! Sukoshi and I had a GREAT time, and I LOVED seeing everyone so happy! I almost lost my voice from all the talking...LOL! It's so nice to have a face and personality to put with each of you as I read your posts now.

One thing I forgot to mention at the meet - I included an evaluation form in your packet of handouts, and I'd appreciate if you could fill that out and mail it back to me if you didn't hand deliver it to me at the meet-up. My address is on your "Attendees List" - also in your registration packet. The evaluation form is a little overwhelming, but it shouldn't take but just a few minutes to fill out, and I think it will be invaluable to me if I go insane again and decide to take on another meet-up in the future . I can't make it better if I don't know what you did/did not like about this one .

And one last admin item before I have to sign off...I don't know yet the final total that we'll be able to donate to the rescue, but as soon as I can sit down and look at the final numbers (I'm waiting for one last charge from the hotel to go through), I'll let you know for sure (probably this weekend)! One thing I ask on the evaluation form is what Yorkie rescue you'd like to see the money go to, and I'd really appreciate your feedback! Thanks!

Lisa I just finished the evaluation out. it will be in the mail tomorrow.

we were lucky and only had to pay 50.00 for the four pups. they refunded the 100.00 for the second 2.
btw the paper we signed on the registration said 1/2 would come back to us.

Thankyou so much Lisa for all your hard work!! And Jodie, thankyou for yours too! I would love to have another meetup in the future...I had such a great time. Now that everyone has seen how much fun we've had, maybe there will be more attendees in the future.
