My grandson needs your thoughts and prayers today PLEASE
 

I havn't shared this here so I will try to make a very long story short.

My grandson was born with Gastroschesis (sp?) which is where the intestines are outside the body. Usually this is easy to fix but he had complications. He just turned 1 in November and has spent his entire short life in the hospital aside from a few very short trips at home. Never more than 2 weeks. He has had countless surgeries and about 3 1/2 months ago had a triple transplant which included a new bowel (small intestine), liver and spleen. This is a complicated transplant and one that is still somewhat in the experimental stages. It doesn't often have a good outcome and is only done when there is no other option. We have been told that it is not a life saving transplant but more a life lengthening transplant.

Ok, so that is a brief history so you know where we started...

and this is where are at right now....

They really wanted him to be able to spend Thanksgiving at home with his family so he was let out of the hospital just before Thanksgiving with a seriously low white blood cell count. I didn't think it was smart then and now am really upset that they let it happen. He is now in the PICU fighting for his life. He has a serious infection. They can't keep his temp down and they can't keep his blood pressure up. There is also a problem in his belly as it is distened and hard. This all just started last night and he is just gotten into the PICU this morning so they are still running all the tests and the doc has just come in to see him so we don't have any answers yet.

I'm sorry if my story bounces around or is patchy.

Please, please send all the prayers you can and if you don't pray than we very much value your thoughts as well.

I am so sorry about your little grandbaby. It's hard to see someone so small and innocent go through such difficulties, and I know it must be horrible for you as well to watch your child go through this with their own baby... I can only imagine the heartache... We will be thinking about you here in Idaho and sending healing thoughts ...

Thank you ladies for being with us in your thoughts and prayers. Right now what I have given above is all we have. I will post updates as things change. Sometimes we can have many changes in a day and others though we go days with no changes but I promise I will keep you updated as best I can.

Here are some pics of our Devin. I'm sorry, I tried to put them in order of age from youngest to most recent but the youngest one ended up at the end and I didn't know how to change it.

Kim, Devin is beautiful. I know this is so hard on you and your family. I will pray hard for little Devin. Just remember that God has His arms around all of you.

Devin is sooooooooooooooo adorable. I didn't know whether to cry for him or smile at his beautiful pictures. He has definitely captured my heart. I will continue Praying and pass on his story to my family for Prayers if that's ok.

What a precious, darling baby! I will pray for his complete and full recovery. It just doesn't seem fair that some babies come into the world to face such stuggles. My heart goes out to you and Devin's family. I hope to hear good news about him soon! *HUG*
