| Happy Thanksgiving?????? http://www.oprah.com/omagazine/20021...ctations.jhtml Here is a link to managing Holiday expectations. I know a lot of people on YT expressed some frustration or sadness about how they are spending the Holiday. I decided not to be with my extended family this year and it has caused some bad feelings too. For everyone who didnt go, had someone yell at them, had someone refuse to come over, or just had a crappy Turkey day...We just have to keep it in perspective. Thanksgiving is just one day out of the year. We have to make our own happiness and not let our expectations get the better of us. Most families dont have the perfect celebration, those are just "Butterball commercials." The rest of us just have to support one another here in the real world. Hope everyone finds some small way to celebrate today!

| Those were such great lists for the holidays! Times are changing, and so are traditions, and the most important thing about the season is being happy and healthy, and giving and receiving love. And we all have to do that in any way possible. Thanks so much for posting that!

| Thanks for that. I had a crappy turkey day. Last yr I choose to stay home by myself because I didn't want to go eat with my nephew's wife's family. I don't really know them and I felt like it would have been an intrusion. My nephew is older than me (29), so his mom, my nieces, and my mom (his grandma) all went 3 hrs away to spend the time with him, his wife, and his wifes side of the family. This year they were supposed to do the same, and once again I wasn't going to go. I'd rather be alone than intrude on someone else's familly. Well when my sister called to make sure plans were still good my nephew told her that his wifes family basically said that they didn't want his side of the family there this year, because we aren't a good as them (SNOBS!). So instead of my sister and her younger kids sticking around her with mom and I, she went up there anyway and is having T-giving supper up there. It didn't matter one way or another to me, as far as I'm concerned its just another day. But mom is sad, and its gotten to the point everyone has there own families and we don't get together like we used to, and its gotten to the point that mom feels like they pawn her off to whoever will take her. So most of the time its ends up being just me and her cause I don't have a hubby or kids yet.
