I had a crappy turkey day. Last yr I choose to stay home by myself because I didn't want to go eat with my nephew's wife's family. I don't really know them and I felt like it would have been an intrusion. My nephew is older than me (29), so his mom, my nieces, and my mom (his grandma) all went 3 hrs away to spend the time with him, his wife, and his wifes side of the family.
This year they were supposed to do the same, and once again I wasn't going to go. I'd rather be alone than intrude on someone else's familly. Well when my sister called to make sure plans were still good my nephew told her that his wifes family basically said that they didn't want his side of the family there this year, because we aren't a good as them (SNOBS!). So instead of my sister and her younger kids sticking around her with mom and I, she went up there anyway and is having T-giving supper up there.
It didn't matter one way or another to me, as far as I'm concerned its just another day. But mom is sad, and its gotten to the point everyone has there own families and we don't get together like we used to, and its gotten to the point that mom feels like they pawn her off to whoever will take her.
So most of the time its ends up being just me and her cause I don't have a hubby or kids yet.
