| Birth Control - Ladies! I was planning to post this on '4WomenTalk' forum but nobody seems to be really active there (I shouldn't be talking either, since I've never posted there lol!) I decided to post it here cause I know i'd get some quick replies. Well, I was wondering if anyone has ever been on the pill? I'm planning to go on it, but I'm not sure what to get. Can some of you list some names? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I've been on Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo for 3 years now. It makes me less moody then when i was on Ortho Cyclin. My periods are regulated now and they are much lighter with barely any cramping. My acne also cleared up since i've been on them.

| I'm on a pill called Yasmin and really like it. My bff just changed over to it and really likes it as well. I was on depo for a year and gained 30 lbs and had horrible problems with acne. those things did not show up until the last few months but it was enough for me to get back on the pill before i started realizing i was having those problems b/c of the depo shot, I loved it. but i couldn't stand getting fat and having bad acne

| Hey Tina. I'm not sure if we can get the same brands here in Canada as they can in the US but i'm on Marvelon 28 and its great. But keep in mind you might have to change a few times until you find a pill with the right amount of hormones for you.. this is my 3rd brand i was on Aleese and soemthing else but they had many side effects for me. |

| I used to be on Ortho tri-cyclene and loved it! Then I switched to Ortho-Lo, I had break through bleeding which the Doctor said was normal in the first few cycles but it was enough for me to not use it anymore.

| im on ortho cyclin right now and i hate it! Honestly if the Yasmine wasnt 50 dollars a month for it then i would have it! ITs soo great! Your not moody or anything. I did take Depo it was my first choice but i bled every day for a 1 year and then got off of it. My original doctor said some people just cant use it. thats when she put me on yasmine! but then when i turned 19 i was off my moms insurance. does anyone have Womens medicade? it covers all women exams and birth control? IF so do you know if you can only go to the clinic for this or will it cover reg doctors?

| Ask about the NuvaRing. It's time released so there's less (for me no) spotting like on the pills. Also, it's a super low dose of hormones because it's not a pill that gets filtered through your system. Added bonus, you don't have to take it every day. I rarely forgot with pills, but even if you remember it's just easier not to take them! I mark on my calendar when to change it. And another bonus, if you want to do the 3 month/4 periods a year thing you can just leave it in for 4 weeks and then take it out and put in a new one. Otherwise you have it in 3 weeks, out 1 week. BTW it's like $36 at my pharmacy. More than generics but less than some of the fancy ones.

| I'm on Lybrel. I take it year round and I have no periods. No spotting, no terrible mood swings. I like it. I'd previously been on Depo. Depo is great too but it can cause osteoporosis (eventually, but it does thin your bones) and weight gain. So I decided to go off it for awhile.

| I had terrible side effects for several different pills and hubby and I just came to conclusion it isn't worth it. I hope you find the one that works great for you!
