How horrible! I've never witnessed anyone getting hit by a car, thank goodness, but there was a woman a couple of weeks ago who was *thisclose* to getting hit while crossing a VERY busy street.

But, this is exactly why there are crosswalks ~ to prevent things like this from happening. I get SO frustrated when people run across the street when traffic is headed their way, when the crosswalk is just a mere few feet away. It's better to take the long route and be safe, as opposed to taking shortcuts and putting your life [and other's] at risk.

I hope she's OK...but that makes me so mad! Driving around I see so many people walking into the streets, or bicyclist riding practically in the street causing traffic, and even in my parents neighborhood kids who walk taking up the whole street instead of using the sidewalks! A couple months ago I was driving to work and I drove past a construction site and the road curves. One of the workers walked out into the street, when there were a lot of cars going about 40mph..didn't even look both ways or anything..just walked out in front and she almost got hit! It makes me mad because when people are stupid like that and DO get hit, whomever hit them still gets all the blame.

Sorry for my rant...thats just one thing that really bothers me! But like I said, hopefully the girl is O.K. It's a good thing she got up right away!
