| allergy tests I've had allergies for like 10 years now. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. It doesn't matter. My throat is icky, I sneeze, my eyes itch. I just can't get away from it. I know I'm bad in the Spring, when everything is coming alive. And grass, especially fresh cut grass. But I don't know specifically what else triggers me. Last Friday I think I had an allergy attack. It hit me like a freight train and I truly thought I was getting sick. Nonstop sneezing, I couldn't breath, my head felt like it was going to explode. Then I woke up Saturday and it was gone. I've heard that you can be tested for allergies. What exactly do they do to test you? And how specific can it be? I was just curious if anyone on here had gone through it or knows anything more about it?

| I'm in the process of getting allergy testing and hopefully shots. I have spring/fall/dog/cat/mold/grass/ect allergies that I know of from years back and am just starting to find out how severe to each. They way my dr does it, is he takes blood and sends it off to the lab. Then there will be a list of allergens that come back as high/med/low. Then he does individual skin testing one at a time for each allergen to see how high the level of reaction is. So he'll inject the allergen into my skin then see if I wheeze/cough/sneeze/get itchy... I hope that helps, I should know more soon when I get my results back!! |

| I was reading up on it some. Does the skin tests hurt? or irritate? It just sounds really weird to me.

| In my case, the skin tests remind me of an ant bite. That sting....It is uncomfortable but it did not "hurt"....The worst part for me was that you could not touch where they tested for like 10 minutes or so....Seemed like forever....Then they came back to the room and marked what all I was allergic to....Then they gave me something for the itching.... I have had the tests done twice....Two differ allergists.....They did my whole back and both arms I have attached a pic of my back after one of the tests...This was taken about 5 hours after they tested me and gave me the meds for relief.. Also, if you have to have the shots...I get 2 shots twice a week...They do not hurt...They are the tiniest needles....

| I have really bad allergies too but my mom is worse. She's always having to have allergy tests and go to the dermatologist because her face breaks out in hives from allergies and everything. It's so weird because after she had me she found out she was severely allergic to fish and before that she loved fish and it never bothered her to eat it or touch it. Then after she had my brother she had another test and found out she was allergic to pretty much everything... milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter and tomatoes and I'm sure some more things but I can't really remember. I should get an allergy test done but it scares me

| that really freaks me out but I'm going to make myself do it anyways. It'll probably be for the end of the month or beginning of December. I have to wait til then to get my 2nd booster for Varicella. (I'm 26 and never had chicken pox! Thought I better get the vaccine to be safe) Funny that you say that about pregnancy. All my allergies came on after I had my daughter.
