| My end of the year experiment I was watching something on TV last night on how this one family couldn't afford food and the kid was in kindergarten and didn't even know the 3 meals of the day, because he never got 3 meals a day. Today I took a look at my pantry and how much I let go to waste. I'll buy things then they'll sit in the pantry for months. I got to thinking, I wonder how long the food would last me. So my experiment is to not grocery shop for as long as I can. I am allowing myself 2 meals a week in restaurants, b/c sometimes my schedule doesn't permit me to eat at home. I'm also allowing myself to go to the store to buy milk and eggs (cause I'll need both to cook with). Any guesses how long before the pantry is bare? I think I will post my daily meals in this thread.. at first they'll probably be fairly normal, they'll get weirder as time goes on and I have limited options. I'm thinking about donating the grocery money I save to the food bank.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That's a great experiment. We take so much for granted and there are too many kids and adults going hungry.

| I totally agree. The sad part is that you don't see me saying "me too!" on the experiment (and I mean that sincerely). But I look forward to watching your experiment! Good for you.

| You know tonite at dinner my bf and I were just talking about how we should clear out the freezer before buying more food, and just buying the perishable essentials. We figured just by buying some veggies and dairy products we could survive a long time if we (meaning I) got creative.

| I'll be watching this thread- you're so right that we are pretty wasteful. I'm not jumping on board but I'll watch and learn.

| I'm hoping I can make it til New Years, then I can start the new year off eating healthy food and not be tempted by the stuff in the pantry. I haven't been grocery shpping in two weeks, but I went through tonight just to see what I have... just by a quick glance- and i'm the only one at my house that eats so most of the stuff will make multiples Turkey tacos (at least 3 meals) Lasagna (2+ meals) Some kind of chicken breast dish (4 meals) Spaghetti (at least 5 meals) Mac and cheese Chicken Fetticine Alfredo (at least 5 meals) Canned Soup (3 or 4 meals) then I have rice, mashed potatos, tons of cereal, canned veggies, canned fruit, and tons of stuff to bake cookies and such.
