Daughter jusy called, He has croupe, His fever is 103, they are trying to give him a breathing treatment to open his airway, He is not letting them near him, they also gave him a cortison shot, he will have to stay there and go into a speacial tent with treatment meds, Im so tired im most likle not spelling things right, Sorry, Im heading there first thing in the am, thank you all for your prayers, please keep them comming, he has never been sick, its very scary , my daughter is a basket case

Praying for your grandson. It's scarry when things happen to the little ones! My youngest 2 were born 3 months early and they would get lung infections and have to go to the PICU a few times during their first 2 years of life. I hope he has a speedy recovery!

All 5 of my kids had croup,a couple of the boys worse than the others,it can come on fast and is usualy worse the first few nights,I can tell if they are going to be bad as they will not eat much and fever is higher.Our middle boy had a heck of a time with it,he usually had to be hospitilized get the shot for the sweliing in his throat the breathing treatments and spend 2 nights,he would get stridor so bad and his lips would turn purple and blue use to scare the hell out of me,we eventually found out he would have a asthma attack with the croupiness,the only time he has asthma is when he works really hard, running wrestling football and when he has a cold it is usually worse.He is 15 now and had to be hospitilized last fall because of this again.Like Nathan said this really sucks I was suppose to grow out of it.(They say by 10 they shoudl grow out of croup )
I have had it lots in day care also I do not get worked up now at all they have to be really bad for get me worked up.Going outside if it is cold REALLY helps ,they say steam from a shower but my kids always said they felt worse with the steam (like they were choking).
Cool mist humidifier lots of fluids and rest when he gets home. Hope he is better today

Thank you for some great info, They are trying to give him treatents to open his bronical tubes, but he is only 20 mths old and they are having a hard time with him, thats why he has to go in a tent, he is so affraid of doctors cause he dont see them unless its for his check ups, ( shots ) also his fever keeps spiking, Im going there now so ill b back later with an update, he is asking for nana, ahhhh my sweet boy.thank you all for your prayers.

Hopefully he is better today with his treatments and a night in the tent (the tent is really helpful for little ones),they are keeping him on tylenol??
Now Nathan always got a secondary infection with his croupiness (strep, ear infection upper respiratory infections) they seemed to follow a bad case of it with him.(He was put on predisone also for a few days)
Hopefully he can home tonight or tomorrow and maybe with albuterol (and the machine) for them to do home treatments if nessesary.
We have all the meds on hand if he gets hoarse has a bad cold and sounds croupy .He is then given predisone for a few days and albuterol treatments when needed to prevent a night or two or three in the hospital.
