| Hi! I, too, am concerned about using the monthly flea/tic treatments. We have been using a homemade spray, and were successful all summer until about a week ago. I mixed lemongrass and peppermint essential oils (total of about 20 drops) into a pint of distilled water and spray it on the yorks a couple of times a day. The drawback is the need to repeatedly spray it. The advantages were that they always smell good and it seemed to work. Honestly, it's my own fault it stopped working...I got lazy and wasn't spraying them as often. Ginger is highly allergic to flea bites, and now that I've had to shave her down...to deal with this tiny infestation, I'm kicking myself for getting lazy. So, if you can be vigilant, I believe this spray does the job!
