| submission urination Our Yorkie has just turned eight months old. She is house trained & has been doing great. Just recently when guests come into our home, she gets soooo excited that she urinates in front of them. Am wondering why all of a sudden this happens when she never did this before when we have had guests? She doesn't do it when we arrived home from somewhere, it is just guests coming to our home. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this. Thanks. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I don't think its submissive urination. It sounds more like excited urination. she's just so happy to have company over that she can't control herself. To fix this, when you know company is coming over ahead of time tell them to completely ignore her when they walk in. Then only after she has calmed down can they greet her.

| My shih poo did this for his first year. I was instructed by the wise folks here at YT to do the following: Ignore them when you walk in the door. Don't talk to them. If you approach them, crouch down to their level. It worked for me!! Some dogs grow out of it, as my Oliver did, however my exhusband had 2 Jack Russells that never grew out of it. Good luck with this, I'm sure you'll get some good ideas along with my advice.
