thank you so much! I have saved that as a favorite and will show my vet. I think that is why he is referring us to Michigan State, because of the required degree above and beyond vetinary. I will show my husband as he is nervous about taking Romeo away for treatment..

My 2 yorkies reserve sneeze and it doesn't sound anything like that. It's a constant like wheezing sound. Can't your vet check him/her out and find out if it's a trachea?

Well, Romeo seems to be doing much better. Our vet did exploratory surgery and found that his tonsils were quite enlarged, possibly due to an infection from his back teeth. Apparently he had a cracked tooth from chewing on rawhides, which then caused an infection. He had two teeth removed, and is on antibiotics. He still has a scratchy throat, but last night was the first night he was went on in months where he could actually breath! The vet said he had never seen anything like that before, but that it probably isn't that uncommon, and that he will watch for this more from now on because it sounds so similar to a reverse sneeze or trachea, that most people probably don't get it checked out. Hopefully Romeo will continue to improve and be back to normal!!!

dd has the reverse sneeze when she gets excited when we come home. It was worse when she was on pred for allergies and she gained weight- now that her weight is down not so bad and more during allergy season. Vet heard her once and said oh she has a reverse sneeze.

to calm her i talk softly saying it is ok, put her in front of a floor fan and massage her neck and goes away quickly

i was so worried about her noise which was probably due to allergies i had her trachea xrayed when i spayed her and she was fine so may be something when you get yours fixed to do just to rule it out as it is so common in yorkies
