| Our new baby! Is this normal... We got this little girl yesterday. She's 12 weeks. My grandma's 12 week old baby Yorkie is really fluffy and furry, but this girl has patchy, wirey hair. We didn't get to see the parents, but her brothers and sisters had a lot fuller coats than she does. We picked her because she had the most energy and was the most lovable. I don't know a lot about Yorkies, so I just want to make sure she's pure and that her coat is normal. (She was kept outside and in the garage so she's pretty dirty in these pics. I take her to get cleaned up in a couple hours) Thanks for your help! =) Last edited by Jondoe0069; 04-27-2007 at 12:56 PM. |

| Awe!!! She's a cutie!! My Toby had a coat similar to that at that age. He is now 3 1/2 yrs old and has a somewhat long coat but it is very thin and wirey. From what I have seen Yorkies can have different texture coats and still be pure bred. To tell you the truth I have always wondered if my Toby was a full Yorkie since he did not come to me with papers...then I reallized that it didn't matter. We love him regardless. Congratulations on your baby girl!!

| Congratulations on your new little family member, and thank you for getting her out of that awful place. Have you decided on a name yet? |

| Her name is Fiona. She wasn't really in an awful place. They had 2-3 litters of puppies and a few other dogs so they all had a nice cozy spot in the garage to sleep and hung out in their big yard all day. She was just dirty from rolling around in the yard with her brothers and sisters. I just got her back from the groomer and she's beautiful as ever. I agree that it doesn't matter, and I would NEVER EVER give her back, no matter what.... but we paid for a pure yorkie (w/o papers) so hopefully we got one =) Everyone kept telling me she didn't look full Yorkie, but the groomer said she's just a wire coat Yorkie. So I'm sure she is! Here's a pic fresh from the groomer! |

| Super cute little girl! She looks like she could be a sister to my Pixie. Pixie also has a wirey coat. Here is a picture of Pixie at Easter. I hope that you continue to update pics as she grows. I am so curious to see what my little Pixie will look like as she matures.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor little girl...she was kept outside ?? To me that says 'awful' and good for you taking her...I think she looks kind of wire coated but they change ALOT in the 1st year of their lives... Congratulations on your new puppy and I wish you all the best - I can see she's already fitting right in judging from that cool action shot and I wouldn't worry about what people tell you - she looks yorkie to me and from your post I see you're in love and that's what counts.

| Congrats on your baby! She looks full yorkie to me! It's amazing how different these little guys can look. We went to a yorkie picnic last summer. There were over 100 yorkies there, and I gotta say, no two really looked alike. The show yorkies all look similar, but the rest, between the different coloring, different sizes, different kind of coats, different hair cuts, etc...their is an amazing variety. Also, Ginger had a really fluffy coat as a pup, but her hair is thin and wispy as an adult...I don't think you can ever be sure. I'm looking forward to your continued posts and pics!

| Monday's eyes shine green, but she has a soft fluffy coat, not a silky one. Friday has straight wispy hair and her eyes shine no color. Some yorkies' eyes shine yellow and/or blue. I wonder if there is any significance ...

| Welcome to YT. Congratulations on your sweet girl. It's funny the diversity that these little guys can have in coats. My Rhapsody and Tiger are the same way. One has a very thick, fluffy coat. The other has thinner, but much more silky and not as cottony coat. Weird. She looks all Yorkie to me.
