| Carter & Cooper - clean bill of health Cooper had another round of shots today -- normal 5-1 and 1st bordetella. He had minor coccidia 3 weeks ago when we got him and there are no signs of it any more. He weighed in at a whopping 1.6# (1# 9.6 oz) at 13 weeks 2 days. He should be on track to weigh 3# when fully grown. Carter weighed in at 3.4# at 11 months old. He has only gained .3# (4.8 oz) in the last 4 months. When we first got Cooper, Dr. Dawn was out of state so she wasn't able to give him the once over for approval, another vet in the office did it for us. I feel so much better now that Cooper saw our favorite vet today. After the vet visit, we went to Petsmart to pick up a few things. Cooper & Carter were a hit in the store. I don't think there wasn't a person who resisted coming over to talk to us. Of course, both of the boys had a bath and their hair all dolled up before the vet appt so they were looking really cute! Oh . . . . . there was a lady in the vet office who had dropped off her wienie dog this morning for gallbladder surgery. The vet called her after the surgery to let her know that while they were doing the surgery, they noticed an obstruction in the intestines of the dog and removed it as well. It was an ACORN!!!! While talking to my vet (not the same vet that did the surgery), she commented that the other vet had warned the woman that the dog should not eat acorns because of just this type of thing happening. The woman did not heed the advice of the vet and learned the hard way! I don't have oak trees in my yard . . . thank goodness! Lisa

| Lisa, I always love to see your pictures. Post more of your boys when you can. I would have loved to be in Petsmart and watched everyone oooh and aaah over them. I can't believe the acorn story! Just goes to show, just cause they will eat it doesn't mean they should!

| Good, healthy babies, now that's what we like to hear! I'm glad Yoda doesn't like acorns, we seem to have endless amounts of them and pine cones around the house. Sounds like you have a good doc in Dr. Dawn and sounds like the boys had a ball with all the attention they got at PetSmart. Maybe they'll start liking going to the vet if they get treats and toys and attention at PetSmart everytime afterwards. |

| Villette is correct when she says that it is good for US -- we all need some positive attention every now and then! When we were getting ready to check out at the vet's office, a small framed older lady (a generation older than me) was being pulled about by her 96 pound dog. She reminded me of the woman on Showdog Moms and Dads! The lady was saying loudly, "he won't hurt you, he won't hurt you!" Forget almost being knocked over! LOL Dr. Dawn was at the counter after escorting us there. Dr. Dawn took that beast to the scale and commanded him to sit. Lo and behold . . . he listened. Dr. Dawn took them straight in to an exam room! If Dr. Dawn would offer to keep Carter or Cooper for me while we're away from home, I'd hand them over to her in a heartbeat! I've been to her house when I photographed her son for his senior portraits. They have lots and lots of animals around. I'm lucky to have such a great vet that I have a good relationship with. Lisa

| Another reason I posted originally was for all those members who question how much weight their pups will gain after 6 months or 7 months. This give some basis of what to expect.
