| Scottish Highland Babies... Hello ! HELLO TO ALL YOU YORKIE MAD PEOPLE !!! You cannot be as mad as me ! I wanted a Yorkie since I was 12, and I finally got my first treasured "baby" when I was 33, 6 and a half years ago. Tara was 6 weeks when I took her home, and will be 7 yrs old this June. I call her "the Queen" because as far as she is concerned she IS the queen ! She is so gorgeous that EVERYONE stops us to say hello to her, and she EXPECTS everyone to speak to her ! She loves to wave obsessively at you and you have to take her paw ! It's like ET's finger ! I then got a wee boyfriend for her who needed a new home when he was 19 months. He will be 5yrs this year in October. He was already called Casper, and it seemed cruel to change his name when he had a new home to get used to, but we often call him Mannie as well ! He is a skinny wee boy and a complete sap ! He smiles all the time....nice smiles too ! Last October I succumed again.....I just had to have another wee girl ! I found a wee girl already called Tammy and made my husband drive 200 miles after coming home from a night-shift to go and get her ! She is three years, and will be 4 in July this year. The poor wee thing was in a terrible state when I got her....mange and a yeast infection which had never been treated. Her owner sold her to us in his garden - we never got taken into his house at all, and he said he wouldn't miss her ??? She had never been to a vet(he said he doesn't beleive in vets !) and she wasn't toilet trained ! She stank the most unbelievable smell, and was greasy all over and had tattered ears. Her underside skin was totally black and the rest red raw with sores. Anyway a few months later, this all top champion bred dog is in fantastic condition after vet treatment and lots of love, bathing and good feeding. Such a well bred dog in that state was shocking. Her hair is growing in and she has a shine in her coat. She smiles nicely too and goes all flat on the floor as if she is going to be kicked or get a row if you speak to her....it looks cute, but it makes me wonder why she is always doing this ! Is she just shy or has she been kicked ??? She is lovely natured like my other two. Tammy (the wee tart) has just thoroughly enjoyed the attentions of Casper, who is in mega love, so maybe babies on the way ! I will want to keep them too, no doubt ! All my dogs are 4lbs in weight, so "small". The first pic is Tara the Queen, the second is Casper Mannie, and the third and fourth are Tammy or Tammykins as I call her ! She is waving to you in one of her pics ! Hope you like the pics of my three treasured babies.... Debra, Highland Scotland |

| I can't imagine what kind of life sweet Tammi had before she was rescued by you and your husband. From your description of the condition she was in when you got her would not surprise me if she was physically abused as well. Poor baby! Thank goodness the Yorkie Angel led her to your loving home. Welcome to Yorkie Talk! You have a beautiful family!

| From one mad Yorkie lover to another Welcome To all the people who rescue, who love the thrill of saving a life I applaud you. They should give you all medals you drive hours to take sick dogs and help them you love them, if it was not for all of you things would be horrible for dogs. My Story: A few years ago I fell in love with a beautiful Lhasa her name was Dulce. She was a puppy that I bought and loved her with all my heart. One day I noticed she could not urinate in a stream. I rushed her to my Vet he looked at my and laughed and said it is not possible. My background being nursing I said she just dribbles all day every where. She was 7 months old and the most loving beautiful dog I could ever own. I called every vet to try to find out if a dog could have this problem. I called a vet and they told me to come in and we went. I waited outside and they told me that she had not opening to urinate from it was the size of a pin and that the urine was backing up and was going to kill her. My knees buckled, I took her home and walked her and talked to her as I usually did and prayed. The next day the receptionist called me and said she spoke to a surgeon and they would do the surgery pro bono because it had never been done. They ran tests and tests and she was to have it on a Monday. I brought her home and took her out for a walk and she urinated normal. The doctors created a vaginal opening for her. Later we found she was inbreed and that is what happened. I just stood and cried. I had to take her back for follow up care. One day while I was walking in the Receptionist was standing outside the door and Dulce jumped up on her and she started crying. Dulce just stopped and sat in front of her not moving. I did not underdstand. As I talked with the surgeons I found out that the receptionist told me the surgery was pro bono but it was not she paid for the surgery. Make a long story short she started to watch Dulce for me when we had to go out of town. I came to get her and I knew in my heart what I had to do. I called her and told her that I needed to give her something would she be home she said yes I gave her Dulce. See I did not know that she was suffering with cancer she never told me. She was fighting for her life but Dulce knew that she needed to be with her. She went to her treatments with her she laid in the bed with her she made her live. She is in remission now and they go to the hospitals and share love. She rescues dogs in any shape and when she felt her light was dimming it was my Dulce that gave it back. I am so proud of her and the all those who rescue dogs there is a seat in heaven waiting just for you with all the furbabies just running around smiling....God Bless you all...........

| Thanks for your lovely comments....yes I think Tammy had a terrible life....I actually thought at first she was a puppy farm mother who had lived in a shed all her life, but I plucked up the courage to write to the ex owner to ask if she had ever had pups, and the way I worded it, he could have said yes, and it would have been fine. He replied saying she had never had pups, and I believed his reply from what he wrote. So at least she hasn't had pups every 6 months....I think he was just short of cash and feeling guilty about the state she was in, and decided to get rid of Tammy and the other older female he had, - which he had sold on before I came for Tammy. I wonder what state that dog was in and whether the new owner had the sense to get it treatment too !!! I think Tammy had been used to fighting that other dog for food, going on how she has been at feeding times here. She is finally starting to slow down and realise that Tara and Mannie won't steal hers ! Look at the difference in her since we have had her..... the first pic is Tammy all clipped and still ill, after her first bath.... I have tried to make her pretty with a bow in her hair, but she is so scrawny ! the second is her now.....a different dog ! p.s. your dogs are lovely !!! I would love them all !!! DEBRA |

| Bless you for taking Tammy into your home and giving her a very blessed life! She has been thru so much I don't know why you would want to put her thru anymore by having pups. For a dog that weighs only 4 pounds, having pups could prove fatal. I'd have them spayed and the male neutered, and let them continue living a very spoiled life. |

| CHEWIESMOM - My mum is Canadian and my Grannie was American....she married a Scotsman and they lived in Canada where they had their kids, only returning to Scotland when my Grandad got terminal cancer in his 30's. We have lots of relatives over with you....I am the only one who hasn't been over there yet, but one day ! Yes Scotland is beautiful, but too many Polish are flooding the place and forcing our beautiful countryside to be built on and spoilt and not integrating. Don't leave it too long if you are planning on coming here....you will be very welcomed by the locals - they will be pleased you are not eastern european, ha ha ! Yorkiedaze - Don't make me cringe with fear ! Yes I was very worried about that too. In fact I was so worried that I had Tara 4lbs neutered as soon as I could, and everyone, including breeders, have said how stupid I was. They said she would have had gorgeous pups with no problem. She is 7yrs old now. I got Casper 4lbs and didn't get him neutered for fear of putting such a skinny wee thing through an anaesthetic - just as his previous owners were afraid too. He is no bother with female dogs, and never wants to wander. I could have kept him from Tammy easily. Then I got Tammy, 4lbs and my hubby said no way was I getting her neutered until she had had pups after what people had said about Tara. Tammy is a sturdier shaped dog than Tara. I had wondered about her being too small and Casper too big, but have been told they will be fine, as though Casper has longer legs, he is much thinner and curls up much smaller. I am worried sick now.....mind you I am nervous anyway, but all I can do if she is pregnant is make sure she is looked after by the vet very carefully, and hope all is ok. I wasn't that bothered about pups, but my hubby wants them to off-set all the money we have spent so far and to help pay for Tammy being neutered. Men, honestly ! Mind you it's his hard earned money, and he's a darling getting them for me. Smaller dogs than Tammy have been fine and had three pups - though I'd be surprised if there were any more than two. I know of a 2lb female owned by a show breeder who is looking for a tiny male for her. Tammy is three and a half years old, so the right age. Surely any dog can have problems. I wonder what percentage of Tammy's size have problems ? If she isn't pregnant I shall continue the moaning at my hubby to just neuter her as the worry isn't worth it to me. We'd hate to loose her ! She is day 23 since her mating. I could get her scanned now. Anyone else had a 4lb female pregnant by a dog the same size ? You can't do right for doing wrong ! I just wanted to give some old people the chance of a wee dog to sit on their knee without the ridiculous price-tag, and keep one for myself. If you are trying to scare me then you have ....DEBRA 2 more pics of Tammy so you can see her size, and third one is Casper : |
