Yorkie-Poms Due March 27th

i love my yorkie-poo to death but will NEVER NEVER get a mix again. she looked like a yorkie-poo when she was born but now i don't know what she looks like. you never know until they are at least 2 years of age. sure they are cute when they are little but have you ever seen a picture of a yorkie-pom as an adult? i went on the website and could not find a picture of an adult yorkie-pom. if you could find one let me know. i think it is a BIG BIG risk because you may (i said may) get a bad reputation as a breeder.

well it is done now and you are going to have your yorkie-poms.
i hope all goes well with the whelping. i hope mommy does well and the babies are healthy.

and (i am sure you know this but i will say it anyway) responsible breeders breed to improve the breed and never will they mix a breed.

sure accidents happen but "come on" we weren't born yesterday.

Good luck with your puppies! My yorkie has had 2 litters so far, and did it all herself! They just seem to know what to do, usually without much assistance.
And as far as your puppies being mixed, I can't imagine you not being able to find wonderful homes for all your puppies. I'm sure they will be beautiful little dogs! Martha

regarding yorkie poms i have one now and had another that was related to her, i know what to expect basically, sometimes colors vary a little, and if you go to the dogster.com and look for dominant breeds yorkie and pom at once there are 81 right now, so that'll give ya an idea

Thanks for the info, i dont fear this will give me a reputation as a bad breeder. if someones opinion of me breeding a yorkie-pom to a yorkie which was unplanned makes me a bad breeder then thats there opinions but not everyone thinks that way.

also purebreds start out as two different or more breeds mixed together. now in no way am i saying that yorkie-poms will be regonzied as "purebreds" but you have to look at both sides. it was infact an accident my husband let them outside one morning for me, when i brought them back in i noticed the male privates were exposed and i asumed they got together its a risked i took not fixing her.and you cant say people are bad breeders because they might have oops litter or even purposely take two really great representations of a breed and mix them for an outcome.

austrailan terrier + silky (years later) = yorkie

these little mixed breeds get great attention and are wanted, now i would never pay some of the prices i have seen on the "designer breeds" but i did pay well for mine. and i am happy with them.

its all in what you want or like

i think a bad breeders is someone who doest care well for the dogs and puppies, or breeds large quanitys of puppies, live in dirty unkept places, the puppies are sickly etc...

i LOVE yorkies but love some of the mixes too.

Yes, all purebreds start out as the mixing of something, but with over population the way it is.. we really don't need any new mixes because pretty much there are no new needs.

You know, my first dog was a yorkie poo, purchased from a pet store and I spent over 1,000 dollars on him... since then somehow or another I've ended up w/two other mixes. After really researching mixed breeds and what it is doing to our shelters and over population issues.. I've just made a personal choice not to buy another mixed breed.

Sure, I think ALL dogs are cute.. mixes being no exception.. ( I think mine are the most beautiful dogs a momma could ask for ).. but it's more of a feeling of personal responsibility to not contribute to a growing problem anymore.

I can understand that accidents happen and I'm in no way trying to start the debate on mixes vs purebred. All I'm saying is that stating that every dog came from a mix at one time is a really detrimental point of view, IMO.. because having an occasional litter and saying it's okay because every dog came from something could open the door way for more unplanned litters or possibly even planned litters because they *are* in demand.

I know that you're puppies will be totally adorable and I hope that you find them all wonderful homes
