| Buddha's Eye Problem Well, to the vet twice in two days! I'm doin' good. Yesterday I took Chai in because she has has this dry cough in the mornings and whenever she gets excited for the last three weeks or so. The vet ruled out worms, or an infection and said she's too young for collapsed trachea so she thinks it's allergies and prescibed liquid children's benabryl. Then, this morning Buddha couldn't open his left eye and when I dauhgter tried to clean it he whimpered. My vet couldnt see him until 5 so I called around and found another vet that I think I am going to switch to. They put a dye in his eye and determined that he had scratched it (probably playing with Hefner or the cat) and prescribed some eye drops. I also made appointent to have Buddha neutered and have his baby teeth removed next friday. My cat is getting spayed the same day so I will be playing nurse next weekend. My original vet disapproved of my decsion not to get Chai a second rabies shot because the one she got in Texas was given 1 week prior to her 4 month birthday and California law requires rabies be given AFTER 4 months. When I said it was a "strong" shot she said it wasn't. She also disagreed with my decision not to have Chai spayed yet. She is 5 months old and only weighs 2 lbs. I told her I wanted to wait until she was 7 or 8 months old and she said "Just wait until she comes into heat! You should do it before she comes into heat". I explained my concern about the anesthesia on such a small dog and I wanted her to get a little more meat on her bones and she still thought I should do it now. I didn't feel like she respected my opinions and like she was sort of patronizing me. Anyway, I will be a nervous wreck next Friday but he gets to come home and not spend the night so I am happy about that. I am so happy I found this new vet office. The girl at the reception desk wasn't too bright and put Buddha down as a "yorki-poo" in the computer, but the vets I met were both great and the fact that they said "bring him right in" when I called makes me feel good. |

| I love my vet, they advise me, dont tell me what to do and dont patronize me. I wouldnt want my 2 pound puppy undergoing anesthesia either! Bella is needing to have 2 canines pulled, she is 4 1/2 pounds, and i dont want to risk putting her under. She would most likely be fine, but I am just an overprotective mom. |
