| AL. Swamp Rat~Have You Seen ONE? Have you ever seen a Alabama Swamp Rat??? I saw my very first one in my back yard yesterday !!!! It was rather scary when I saw "IT" Yesterday was a Pretty day and I let some of my babies stay out to sun themselves. I had some work to do in my kitchen so I was there to keep a watchful eye on them(so I thought) as they were in their portable pen. I thought Homer was enjoying the sun in his spot where he was laying for sometime well apparently he was. He decided to empty the water bowl and make mud pies and he was the PIE!!! I had to shampoo him 3 times to get all of the mud and grass out of him..lol But I am just glad he wasn't play in the red clay or he would had been a Alabama Red Swamp Rat very badly stained...

| he looks very pleased with himself. Just like my daughters when they are through playing in their sandbox and have snuck the garden hose in to play as well. Funny thing is, I actually keep rats as pets. Wet rat is not a fun look. But baths must happen, even for the smallest of God's creatues.

| Ha ha ha! I'll take a serving of that kind of pie anyday! You know that this thread caught MY attention. Yes, I can completely understand your thankfulness that it wasn't the Alabama Red Clay. He would be that color for ages! And thank goodness it wasn't a real swamp rat. Those are the ugliest things I have ever seen...it's like a possum and a rat bred! Yuck! No no, for those of us "down here," we can assure you, 'swamp rat' is not a figure of speech. If you think it is, come visit me and we can go Snipe Hunting. |
