I have a new baby!! Newbie here 2 Attachment(s) Hello all! I have finally made it onto the site so that I can post, thanks to those that helped me out. I picked up my new baby Friday evening, and have quickly learned that was a mistake. She is 6 weeks old, too young, I know now. Anyway, the breeder give her shots to her before we left. Saturday morning I took her to the vet, who again give her shots after I told him she had already had them. He said it wouldn't hurt, but judging by yesterday-I don't think it was smart. She was quite lethargic most of the day, however she did eat small amounts. I was really concerned and so glad Shelly was online to talk to me! Anyway, the vet really concerned me because he said she had open fontanel. I have read up on it and haven't found alot! What I did find really doesn't apply, I don't think. Its about the size of the end of a pencil, and I have a hard time feeling of it. Does anyone know about this? I am already attached and do not want to take her back. (I got her for my other yorkie, Scooby, whose best friend (boxer) moved out with my daughter! Today she is much more energetic and eating well. Dilemma #3-what to name her???? Votes appreciated! So far: Lola, Fancy, Kahlia (ka-leah), Shayla, Heidi, Zoee, Minnie and Tiara I look forward to talking to everyone!! Renee :animal36 |
Uhh, shes so cute. Welcome to YT. I wouldn't be too worried about the open Fontanel, it sounds like its very small and more likely that it will close on its own as she gets a little older. There are some dogs where its really pronounced and that when it can be a problem. We look forward to getting to know you all. |
Congratulations on your new puppy and nice to have you here ...glad you finally got on and good job posting the pictures - I see you're choosing names ? I like Shayla....goes good with Scooby...how old is he ? I'd love to see pictures of him too :) |
I'm so glad you figured out how to register!! You're baby is precious, as I told you earlier :D:D:D!! Good luck and can't wait to see more pics and hear more from you Renee!! |
She is adorable. Welcome to YT. I am a Newbie too, and this site is one of the best sites on the net. I am addicted to it for all of its amazing information. As far as a name, you can't go wrong. If you are into the whole Scooby theme why not go for Daphne? I think it is original and pretty/cute at the same time. Just a thought. Good luck with your little princess. |
Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new baby. I really like the name Lola. |
Awww...your new puppy is precious! I like all of the names you listed too! Any of them would fit her! :) |
Welcome! Welcome to YT.....glad you joined! Your new baby is such a cutie!!! :littleang |
Names and pics I like Shayla since it means "gift" but I really like the Daphne theme!! Megan is helping me out with pics so I can post scooby, those pixels get me every time! |
Renee 1st I want to welcome you to YT, as a fellow Alabamian and YT member. Congrats on your new baby!!!! :) :) Please be careful about the vet over vaccinating a pup, they can die from this. I know a friend of mine last one a couple of month ago. So, yes it can hurt !!! Glad to hear she is okay, what a blessing. Her open fontanel will probably close on it own since she is still a very young pup, just watch her little head so she doesn't bump into things. So where is Alabama do you live. I am in LA down by Thomasville??? |
Oh she is a sweetie pie! Welcome to YT! |
I am in Tuscaloosa, not too far away! Quote:

Thanks, you will have to let me know how you did that! In pic #1 Scooby has his favorite snack...a fortune cookie, he used it to tease my Sheltie (R.I.P) who had a very big sweet tooth, now he just carries them around like he is keeping it from us. Pic #2 is Scooby and my grandpup "Doodles" Can you tell I am as I am referred to "crazy dog lady"? Quote:

that is a cute puppy. I am curious, though. Why did the breeder let you take such a young puppy???? I have 3 books--all say 12 weeks is the earliest they should be taken away from Mama... |
Very good question! I really was thinking I would take her back today...all 367 miles, but she is doing much better. I will know better next time! Quote:

Congratulations. She is adorable and a cutie. I like Daphne also. Will go perfect with Scooby. Scooby is so cute also. |
Hi there from NC and WELCoME :) Your baby is precious!! How much does she weigh??? I hope she continues to improve and I love the name Heidi :) |
She weighed .9 lbs on the 29th. The vet weighed her but I was so worried about the fontanel issue I am not sure of her weight, does 18 ounces sound right? I think that is what they said. Quote:

Well as far as the name is concerned I highly recommend Shayla. Of course I am slightly biased since that is what I named my oldest daughter (human not yorkie). I got my yorkie at 6 weeks old also. The mother was dog-napped when the puppies were 5 weeks old and after searching for the mother for a week the breeder decided to adopt them out early. At the time I didn't realize just how young that was. She weighed 1 lb 8 oz when I got her. The puppies in her litter were taken to the vet the morning I picked her up for their first shots. I took her to my vet who felt that 6 weeks was too young for the first shots and repeated them at 8 weeks. |
Very cute! :) |
How cute! She is soooooooo cute. I would love to get another for Kaytlyn as when I got her she had been with her mom and grandmother and they had both passed away a week apart. Enjoy her. |
