She is actually a dog and not a monkey.

I think you are taking people too literally. Both members did not mean that Michiko was literally Nick Nolte or a monkey, but were joking. I call my dogs my 'babies' all the time and don't literally think they are babies

Thank you so much for comments. Haruka definitely gives me pleasant surprise and joy everyday, 5 years together. Today she came to work with me and was really good with clients who were having difficult time. (I work at social service agency and she was a therapy dog for a few years.) She definitely makes people's days a little brighter and even she is retired from coming to work, she has been always asked by co-workers and staff to come by.

I know that they were joking! Everyone is different with different background and that should be okay.
